Alone

Prologue Krystal P.O.V

“Quickly, get out of bed. We’re leaving again.” I hear as my eyes slowly open, still crusted with the feeling of sleep.

I get up and look at the clock.

3:36 am.

I groan at the time. This has been my life for a few months now. I’m already 13 and my life feels torn apart. Ever since Terror decided to try and take over the world. There have been bombs going off everywhere. They want to rebuild the world and they’re starting where I happen to live. I heard they kidnap children in hopes that the parents will pay a huge sum of money for them. I guess they need more money to make more bombs. I’ve been moving around for a while, and by moving I mean going to the bomb shelter. I’m honestly still trying to get used to this life.

We all run to the shelter and close the door. It is pretty dark, but we all want to sleep so it is okay. It is hard to fall asleep, but I eventually do. After hours of being asleep and being in the shelter we decide it is safe enough to leave.

“Kids stay here, we’ll look out first.” My Mom said concerned.

I nodded my head in response. After a few minutes she becons us. Dad is already outside. We probably walked four feet when my parents scream at my brother and me to run and hide. I’m not as fast as my brother, John, but I’m able to catch up to him and pull him behind a building. We are both curious and want to know why we got told to run. We both look out just as Terror takes our parents. They muttered something to them, but it's too far to hear what they said. I can tell that they are terrified.

I see them get forced into a truck and I feel hot tears stream down my face. I look over at John and noticed he looks close to tears as well. I quickly get up and run after the truck trying to catch up to it but I’m too slow. At that moment I decide I wanted to become the best at hiding and escaping. I want to be able to get food from abandoned stores without getting caught by Terror and I won’t let what happened to my parents happen to my brother or myself, ever.
