After getting tired of looking at me sitting in the field, Gideon sent me to work the rest of the day in the kitchen. It was a welcomed change.
He didn’t explicitly tell me to not mention anything to Adrian, but the threat was obvious as he sent me inside. As if I’d run and tattle on him.
I was between a rock and hard place. My heart went to him for being worried about his sister. I couldn’t forget that from his point of view, I was the villain.
