As Adrian walked away with Portia, even Gideon asked a female for her hand.
Lucian was greeted by other guests. While he was distracted, Tessa took the opportunity to step closer to me. With a smile, she leaned in to my ear.
If a stranger were watching, it might look like we were friendly. But I knew better.
“I hope you have your fun tonight, because when we get home I can’t wait to invent new punishments for you.” Tessa whispered.
My back still ached from the lashes. The whip cut me deep enough that even with enhanced healing, I was not recovered yet.
I was lucky they had started to crust over and weren’t actively bleeding, but they would likely take another week before they started turning pink.
