Chapter 8

Deanna was exhausted from the days events, taking a nice hot shower, fixing a light snack and going to bed as soon as she was done, Deanna fell asleep as soon as her head hit the pillow. She dreamt of the past, walking in on her husband and her sister having s*x, on her bed, in her house. The pain she felt from the hurt of it all was loud and clear, she could never figure out what she had done so wrong in her marriage, for him to cheat on her like that. What had she done so wrong as a sister, that her baby sister would do that to her, did she not show her enough love growing up. Maybe as kids or teenagers something was done by her to offend her sister and she didn’t know it. The dream seemed to remind Anna that she was not invincible and that she still had feelings and emotions about the situation.

Deanna woke up the next morning feeling like she hadn’t slept at all, she tossed and turned all night, thinking of the horrible past. This was not how she wanted to start her stay in NY, Anna wanted to get her business here done with so she could go back home, where she never thought of her ex-husband. At that moment her three children gently opened the door, trying to see if she was awake yet, once they saw that she was, they came barreling in, toppling her to the floor with hugs and kisses. This is what Deanna needed to get her day started on the right note, the love of her children always cheered her up, they were the air she breathed.

Deanna sent the kids to take their baths, while she took hers, getting dressed and getting ready to head to church, it was Sunday, and she figured hey why not go and get some of this evil off her. She didn’t want to go to the church she grew up in, because then she would run into the people who birthed her and she wasn’t ready for that, so she drove to one closest to her house.

Church service was great, and it helped Deanna to relax, she got some of the stress off her chest, knowing that she had a stable foundation. As she was walking with the kids to the car, she accidentally bumped into someone, she wasn’t paying attention to where she was going. When she looked up, she hesitated before she apologized, because the man in front of her was all beauty and bronze. Absolutely gorgeous with hazel eyes, light skinned in complexion, standing at least 6ft tall, with a body made from God. She couldn’t believe it, she had been staring so long that the man had to clear his throat to get her attention. She looked away and started saying “oh I am so sorry, I wasn’t looking, please forgive me it was an accident.” The man smiled and said, “it’s ok, accidents happen, quite frankly I’m glad this one happened.” This shocked Deanna all she could do was stand there wondering where this gorgeous man came from.

He glared at Deanna and thought “wow she is absolutely stunning” he decided to introduce himself to her “hi my name is Rayquan, how are you doing on this fine day?” Deanna smiled and said, “hi my name is Deanna, I’m fine, how are you doing?”

“I couldn’t be better Deanna, what brings you here today, I’ve never seen you before.”

“Well, I had a heavy heart this morning and decided to find a nice church to go to so I can clear my head.”

“Oh really, I’m glad you decided to stop at this one, because I got a chance to meet a beautiful woman today.”

Deanna blushed, it had been a long time since a man outside of business had complimented her, it felt pretty good. They spoke for a few more moments, when he asked if he could contact her and take her on a date, she was a little hesitant, then decided she would do it, so she gave him her number.

As she was about to walk away, she heard Tameek yelling “Mom come on, we’re hungry, can we get something to eat?”

Rayquan looked at her and said, “you have kids?”

She replied, “yea I actually have triplets, is that a problem?”

He said, “No not at all, we can talk more later, I can’t wait to get to know you better.”

Deanna waved bye and walked to her children; they got in the car and drove to IHOP to get some breakfast. Once they finished eating, they went home to relax and enjoy the day, the kids played in the backyard most of the day, Anna decided to take a nap.

She woke up about 2 hours later to her phone ringing, when she answered it, it was her brother Isaac he said, “hey baby sis, were you sleeping?”

Anna answered “yea it’s ok though, I’m up now, so what’s up? “

Isaac said, “baby girl I wanted to call and check up on you, make sure you're ok after what happened yesterday, I know seeing those two was upsetting to you, so I wanted to make sure you are good.”

Deanna replied “big bro, I love you, yes, I’m good, it did mess with my head a little, all the memories from 10 years ago surfaced, but I’m good. Honestly that is why I was sleeping, I didn’t get much sleep last night, so I got up and took the kids to church to clear my head. I’m good now, I won’t let anyone take my joy, so how are the wife and kids, tell Dina I said hi and I will see her tomorrow afternoon.”

Isaac said, “ok I will tell her, but know this sis, I love you, I will always have your back.”

It made Deanna’s day to hear her big brother say that, because he did always have her back, both him and Izayah, they were her backbone through all this madness. What would she do without them, she hoped to never find out.
