Chapter 2
Ten years later....................
It has been ten long years since she left New York, and she arrived at JFK airport about an hour ago and she said she would never step foot in this city again. Here she was returning with every bit the attitude of a boss, she does not plan to stay long, six months tops. That is how long this deal is supposed to take and then back to Toronto Canada she will go. Normally her assistant would be the one to handle these matters, but the client specifically asked for her to oversee this project in New York, that is the only thing that made her step foot here again. The city has changed a bit since the last time she was here; more buildings were up; businesses were flourishing and life kept going in the city that never slept.
Deanna had a driver pick her up from the airport about an hour ago and she was on her way to Queens to meet up with her client, to let them know she was here and the plans she had for their buildings.
Deanna had become very successful in real estate she was into all types of it, commercial, private, industrial, warehouses, whatever you could name Deanna had her hand in it. She made billions over the years but remained humble.
“Mommy how much longer until we can eat”
The little voice of her daughter brought her out of her thoughts.
“Yeah, mommy I’m a growing boy I need food I can’t survive without it.”
Her son said, she couldn’t help but laugh at her duo, her twins Taniah and Taneek, they were now at the age of 9 and they were the pride of her life. Her pregnancy was kind of hard and when she found out that she was having triplets, she cried because her life had just fallen apart with her divorce from both her husband and many of her family. Oh, yea she had another son who was sitting quietly on his tablet playing God knows what kind of game. He didn’t talk as much as his brother and sister; he was more of an observer. She knew he was listening though and heard everything that was said and would probably agree that he was hungry as well. Her children were all very smart, they were tested at a genius level, so she was very proud of them.
After she left her ex-husband all those years ago, she moved to Toronto, Canada and brought a house and set up shop for her company. She wasn’t stupid, she knew that she could never depend on anyone to get her where she needed to be, she didn’t play the doting housewife when she was married. When her husband was in school learning business, she was also there learning architecture getting her degrees right alongside her ex-husband. There was no way she was going to be one of those women who supported her husband throughout school and then get thrown to the side like a piece of trash when he was done. Oh no she made sure to carry her weight right alongside him, she thought that would make them a power couple. She was a good wife to him, she cooked and cleaned for him, she also gave her submission on a level meant only for him. He also knew that she would cut him if he ever laid hands on her. She thought they were good together, but apparently, she was so wrong, because he laid down with her sister and didn’t think she would find out. He should’ve known that what goes on in the dark, always comes to light, Deanna was just happy that she found out about Jeron and Jasmine before she gave birth to her kids.
Her best friend Monica also moved to Canada with her to help her with the kids, when she gave birth, Monica has been her rock throughout this whole ordeal. As for her parents, she cut ties with them because they took her sisters side, she also cut ties with her youngest brother but kept in touch with the two oldest. Her younger brother Jacob decided he would continue to support his little sister, so he stayed by her side, they did after all keep each other's back they were the closest in the family due to their one-year difference. Her older brothers Isaac and Izayah were twins, and they also cut ties with the family because of the dirtiness their little sister did. Jasmine tried contacting Deanna on many occasions trying to make amends, but Deanna was not having it, she was through with that brat, no more chances. As far as she was concerned, she didn’t have a sister or a baby brother. Deanna fell in the middle of her siblings but was the oldest girl, the third child. Her parents raised them in a good neighborhood, sent them to the finest schools, they were good to all their children but spoiled the final two the worst. They treated Jasmine like she was fragile because she was the last of the bunch and because they had money, they all got treated like royalty, but Jasmine and Jacob were the prince and princess, they could do no wrong. Growing up 2 years apart they all had a bond and protected each other but there was always a hint of jealousy from Jasmine toward Deanna. Everything Deanna got Jasmine always wanted the same thing, everyone looked at it like it was cute because they thought she just wanted to be like her big sister. Deanna always felt like Jasmine was always competing with her and she never knew why.
Deanna made sure that she didn’t treat her kids differently she wanted them all to know that she loved them the same. When they argued she let them work it out themselves, she never took sides and taught her children to solve their own problems. If it got bad then she would step in, otherwise she stayed out of there squabbles. Taneek and Tameek were the older brothers; Taneek came out first then Tameek and of course her princess Taniah came out last they were about 5 minutes apart. The boys protected their sister all the time and let no one harm her, she was their princess to protect.
