An unexpected meeting

**Roman's POV** Roman stared at the space the young girl had just vacated. He didn't know how he felt about her. He had been shocked when he felt his shoulder collide with her tiny frame. When he looked down, he had expected to see her huddled on the ground in pain. Instead, he found her with her eyes squeezed close. She also looked like something was greatly distressing her. She even gasped a couple of times. So he touched her arm and asked if she was alright. But she didn't seem to come out of whatever trance she was in. He repeated his question with the same result.  Her eyes did eventually pop open, but she still seemed to not hear him for a moment. He wondered what could possibly distress her so. He wondered if she could possibly be a witch born into the seer caste. His grandmother was a witch born into the warrior caste. She used to tell him stories all the time about her old coven. They threw her out when she refused to use her gifts for evil. He wondered if she had seen something in him. He was a warlock as well, born into the healer caste. But his ability had yet to manifest. His grandmother said it would, when he needed it to. He wasn't concerned. He didn't have any interest in an ability that would cause others to use him. He saw her utter a spell and knew he was right. But he wondered how he could get her to reveal herself. He began to walk away, and felt the hairs on the back of his neck stand on end. So she was following. That was good. He led her to an abandoned alley, went far enough back so none would hear, and addressed her out loud. "Are you going to reappear? Or make me talk to myself, little witch?" He said, trying to keep his tone even, so as to not scare her. He heard the tiny gasp from a short distance from him. She most likely didn't understand how he knew what she was. "Yes, I know what you are, and you're perfectly safe to come out and speak with me." He spoke again, once more keeping his tone even, and soothing. If she was afraid, she may take off. And he needed to know what she saw and why she followed him.
