CHAPTER SEVEN LETTING IT ALL OUT. ELENA'S POV “You were once mated?” he asked, his voice steady but his eyes wide. "Yes, to an Alpha also" I responded, trying hard not to think about Logan. "You rejected him?" He asked and I nearly scoffed. If I'd none of his plans, I sure would have but he beat me to it, thinking about it now seem to make my skin crawl. "Nope. He rejected me. After cheating on me with my cousin, he f*****g rejected me in front of the entire pack" I groaned, running my hands into my hair frustrated. "I'm sorry about that. But I'm glad he did" Liam muttered and I gave him this scorn look, like was he serious right now?. "Puff... don't get me wrong, I meant I'm glad you didn't end up mated to him cause there's no way, I would have met you then" I felt my cheek heat up at his utterance but I quickly subdued it, Logan made me feel this same way and he turned out to be a snitch!. "Yea, I'm also glad I'm free... free from Alpha Logan Lee Parker" I heaved a sigh of relief. " What did you just call him?" Liam wriggled his brows. "Alpha Logan Lee Parker" I repeated. Liam swallowed hard. "Don't... tell me you are from the Silver pack" He stuttered. I stared at him, scrutinizing his behavior. 'Why did he suddenly become tensed when I mentioned Logan, does he know him?' I wanted to ask him but I shrugged it off. "Yes..." I drawled. Liam's eyes widened, a took on another gulped and slowly averted my gaze, his hand trembling. What was wrong with him?. "Do you know him?" I finally let my curiosity get the better of me. "I...I..." Liam stuttered stopping halfway and then he took another gulp. Liam's eyes widened, a took on another gulped and slowly averted my gaze, his hand trembling. What was wrong with him?. "Do you know him?" I finally let my curiosity get the better of me. "I...I..." Liam stuttered stopping halfway and then he took another gulp. He let out an awkward chuckle. “You think I should…I mean they are close to our pack and…” He drawled. I squinted my eyes trying to make sense of his words and actions. Weirdo. “Kieran just mindlinked, I need to get back to the gathering and dismiss everyone but before I leave Elena…” His face suddenly turned serious, and then he slowly took my hand in his. "I understand that your previous mate was a total jerk, Elena. I can't guarantee I'll be better or that you'll accept me, but I promise you, Elena, I'll try my best to be the perfect choice for you. I won’t let you down." He spoke with such earnestness that it made my heart flutter. “I told you he’s better” Ivana’s voice rang in my mind happily. “Okay?” I stuttered nervously. “Yes,” he said, flashing me a smile. He slowly got on his feet. My eyes drifted to his abs again, and I swallowed hard. “I’ll take my leave now. See you around, Elena” He said softly before walking away. I watched him until he was out of sight, letting out a deep sigh. Staying around him for just a few minutes had given me the warmth I needed and the comfort I was longing for. I just needed to let everything out, and I had. A smile touched my lips as I trailed my fingers over the surface of the river, reflecting on the moment. Suddenly, I noticed some movement from afar, followed by an argument and raised voices, the gathering must have ended. The noise eventually died down, leaving only silence in its wake. The words echoed in my head: “I,Alpha Logan rejects you, Elena, as my fated mate…” My hand instinctively went to my chest, squeezing it as my heart ached. “There you are” Beatrice’s voice broke through my thoughts. Her footsteps approached, and I straightened, turning to face her with a smile. “Yes, here I am” I replied, my voice a bit shaky. Beatrice squinted at me, as if I had grown horns. “What’s up with you?” She asked, taking a seat next to me. “Nothing” I mumbled, biting my tongue. “Nothing you’d like to share, right?” She teased. I smiled genuinely. Beatrice always surprised me with how she acted like a mother, even though she had never experienced motherhood. She gazed up at the sky. “You know, I miss him a lot… most of the time” She said, placing her hand on the bricks beside her and shrugging her shoulders. “Who?” I asked, sensing a deep sadness in her tone. “My mate” She replied, her voice soft and wistful. I struggled to find the right words to say. “You must have really loved him” I finally uttered. She let out a soft chuckle that didn’t quite reach her eyes. “I did, but he loved me more. He was ready to do anything for me… anything at all” A smile spread across her lips, and it was so warm that it made me smile too. “Enough about me” She said, shifting her gaze back to me. “Let’s talk about you.” I swallowed hard, my heart racing. “Tell me about your fated mate” She urged, and my breath hitched. I stuttered, struggling to find the right words. “He is a jerk,” I growled. Beatrice stared at me, puzzled. “That’s harsh” She said. “Not harsh enough to repay what he did to me,” I snapped. “He might have been an Alpha, but he was my best friend. We had this chemistry that made me the enemy of all the other ladies in the pack. When I discovered he was my mate, I was overwhelmed and didn’t think twice before letting him into my heart. He was sweet, and I thought he loved me. But then he cheated on me with my sister and rejected me in front of the pack after I forgave him,” I said, gritting my teeth. “Is this the right time to tell you that you already told me that?” Beatrice chuckled nervously. “I guess not” I said, shaking my head. Beatrice nodded, pressing her lips together. “Since you mentioned it… I do remember telling you. It’s just I wanted to repeat it to myself, so I’d remember. Sometimes, Alphas think they own the world.” I rolled my eyes. “Yeah, I thought as much some years back, but it proved me wrong” She pointed out. “Are you rejecting him?” Beatrice asked. I prayed she wouldn’t. “Please, can we skip that?" I gave her a pleading look. “If you want” She mumbled, getting to her feet. “But before I go, I have a little present for you” She reac hed into her pocket and pulled something out. My eyes widened as I stared at what she held. “You noticed?” I mumbled.
