Daphne’s POV I squinted into darkness—pure, suffocating black. My eyes fluttered open wider, but still, nothing. Had I gone blind? My heart kicked against my ribs as I tried to move, but a cold realization crept over me. My wrists were bound tightly behind me. My ankles, too. Panic clawed up my throat. Where am I? I opened my mouth to scream, but all that came out were muffled grunts. My lips were sealed shut with thick tape, and I couldn’t breathe properly through my nose.
