Carlos knew exactly what Jacques was up to.
But he didn't tell Vivian the truth.
"Miss Millor, before Mr. Thomas left, he told me to make sure you get plenty of rest at the hospital. He's on a business trip, and things have been pretty hectic."
Vivian didn't believe a word of it.
"Why can't I reach him if he's just on a business trip? What's he really up to?"
Carlos was at a loss.
Awkwardly rubbing his nose, he replied. "Uh, Mr. Thomas is probably swamped with work. He'll call you back once he's free."
Vivian wasn't giving up without a fight. "Where exactly did Jacques go on this trip?"
Carlos hesitated for a moment before saying, "I'm not sure. This time, Mr. Thomas took another assistant with him."
"Alright, I understand."
As she hung up, Vivian's face turned as cold as ice.
