CHAPTER SEVENIt was a lovely sunny morning. On the Earl’s instructions the Captain did not speed up until they had finished breakfast. “I thought,” he said to Dalma, “you would want to watch while we sail up the Thames. It is very attractive in the morning and you can see all the other ships coming in from abroad.” “I would love to,” Dalma murmured. But there was still some distance to go before they reached the mouth of the Thames, so she went and sat in their favourite place on the deck where they were out of the brightness of the sun. The sea was very calm and it looked serene as they moved past Kent.
