LINGERING THOUGHTS

CHAPTER TWO After talking to Sharon I walked into my room to shower. This morning I wasn’t expecting my parents at all and it caught me off guard and I hate being caught off guard. As I’m thinking of what happened this morning I can’t seem to forget how Sharon looked this morning. Since she started working with me she has only ever worn trousers and damn it doesn’t do justice to her curves. I can’t help but think of how slim her waist looked in that fitted nightgown how round her chest looked. God she’s really hot. I quickly dismiss the thought of how her body would look without the dress cause I couldn’t forget what this is. Everything I’m doing with her it’s fake. With that thought in mind I enter the bathroom and shower then prepare for work. When I was done preparing I came out to see an already dressed Sharon having breakfast. “oh sorry I did not know if you would eat breakfast with me so I did not prepare any but you can have mine sir” “ it’s fine Sharon and please you don’t have to give me your meal” I chuckled “and when we are alone please don’t call me sir call me Alexander instead” “sir isn’t that too personal and your my boss after all” “ what if you call me sir and my parents hear you how would you explain to them that you call your husband sir” “Oh that’s true sir sorry Alexander I mean” I chuckled at her flustered she was. “make sure to clear my schedule from 12 to 2 pm by 12 we need to be at city hall for the wedding papers then we need to get a dress for you” “ah sir a dress what for” “well we will be attending a gala together and you would need a dress” “oh ok si-Alexander I mean” “it’s fine with time you will get used to it see you at the office and note just because we are in this fake contract doesn’t mean you can slack off or be late” “dont worry sir i still know my place” “that’s good” then I left the house after telling her the key code for the house again. As I walked into my office I saw my uncle sitting in my office “Alexander or should I say Mr CEO how’s work” “did you come to ask me how im doing or you came to look for a way to steal my position” “ steal your position Your the one who stole my position I was supposed to be CEO from the very beginning this is the same position your father stole from me and the same position you stole from my son As the eldest son I was supposed to be CEO not you and definitely not your father “so enjoy the position while it lasts goodbye nephew and dont let work stress you too much” he said as he stood up to leave. After he left I slumped into my chair his visit gave me a migraine and now I’m annoyed “Sharon report to my office NOW” I called. “sir you called for me” “tell each departmental head to be in the conference room in the next 30 minutes and get my usual coffee and dont add any sugar in it” “ok sir I will inform them” “yes and one more thing the next time you let my uncle into my office without my permission you might as well leave this job is that clear” “Yes sir it is I’m really it won’t happen again” “good” after jotting down what I said she turned and left. I couldn’t help but feel bad for raising my voice at her but I can’t help it and she shouldn’t have let him in without my permission. Time came for the quarterly report meeting. Departmental heads were giving their report but I couldn’t help but kept thinking about my uncle’s visit. He’s not normally one for long talks like this so why visit cause I know he can’t come all the way here just to shout at me. He must have a hidden agenda and until I figure it out I can’t stop shaking this unsettling feeling in my gut. I couldn’t stand the meeting anymore so I told everyone to leave. After everyone left I stood up and looked at New York from the floor to ceiling window. The city was indeed beautiful with the bustling of people here and there. I wish life could be as peaceful as my view. A knock jolted me out of my thoughts “sir it’s time for us to go to city hall” “ok no problem” I almost forgot we were getting the marriage license today. As we left my office to the underground parking lot I saw her standing still. I turned to her “are you ok why aren’t you getting in the car” “sir i thought maybe we could go there in separate cars” “Get in Sharon” then she walked towards the car like a scared kitten. I felt weird I wasn’t like I was going to hurt her or anything or was it because I shouted at her this morning. As we both settled in the car I turned to her “im really sorry for the way I spoke to you this morning I shouldn’t have” “oh sir it’s fine and I deserved it cause I made a mistake” “I know but I still shouldn’t have so to make it up to you when we go shopping for your gala dress you can pick out a few pieces of clothes and jewelry that you like” “ahh sir there’s no need to do all that” “I know there’s no need but I insist so don’t argue with me The surprise visit left tension I couldn’t shake as I moved through my apartment. The image of Sharon replayed against my judgment. The soft fabric hugged her figure stirring thoughts I shouldn’t entertain. This arrangement was a convenient contract. I had to remind myself of the boundary. The hot water cleared some fog but her memory lingered. She sat composed in work attire. The request felt necessary yet carried intimacy making it complicated. Her cheeks flushed making her endearing. The details needed handling efficiently today. I added the reminder to keep things professional. The drive gave time to prepare but encounters intruded. His presence put me on edge. The accusation was sharp justified by history. The bitterness hung heavy. The confrontation replayed stirring resentments and suspicions. My tone was harsher fueled by frustration. The warning came sternly though I regretted it. She had been reliable but the visit rattled me. The numbers blurred as my mind wandered to his tone. There had to be more and uncertainty gnawed. The unease settled deep. The room emptied leaving silence. The view stretched with skyscrapers and alive streets far below. The contrast felt stark. The reality brought me back. Her hesitation was noticeable. The outburst lingered making her cautious. The apology felt necessary. Offering extra eased tension.
