CHAPTER FIVE
"I was drunk Mark, I don't remember any of that" Beatrice says as she folds her arms and looks at him as she is waiting what he would say.
"Let's go to the garden and sit, okay?" Mark asked, leading her to the garden, where they sit and talked.
"Alfred, bring us a glass of wine", Mark orders Alfred, who collects Beatrice's bag from her.
"Yes, you were drunk and, as always, you were honest. You see, that is what happened."
"Maarrkkkk- look at you- you, you are", Beatrice, who was drunk and dressed in her pretty sequined purple splitted gown, walking in a zigzag, staggering with a practice blue cup in her hands, smiling like a baby.
"Beatrice, just hold my hands and we will go to sleep", Mark says as he holds her hands. They are at the hotel park. He drove there. She didn't want to go home yet, at least not drunk again.
"I just love my besst- friend, you areee-" She says as she forms up in her mouth and sings. Marks carries her in a bridal style. He leaves her shoes and everything else in the car.
"Get the keys to my room and open it, also bring all the things in the car to the room, make it snappy" Mark says as he reaches the receptionist. He is a regular client there, so he doesn't need any form of introduction.
The receptionist hurriedly ran up the stairs and opened the room door. He left immediately.
"Ah, there you go" Mark says as he carefully places adrunk Beatrice down on the bed.
"DO you know how much I care for you? I do by- eh- one hundred million times and many more like that, and so many other numbers that I can't remember", Beatrice says, holding up her fingers and counting them, right on the bed while sitting, looking so rough and yet undeniably beautiful.
"You care for me that much?" Marks, as he knows this is the moment when Beatrice says the truth, he knows her like the back of his hand, taking advantage of the moment isn’t what he had planned, but then it won't be bad.
"Yes, more than a thousand million" Beatrice replies with a smile on her face while Mark settles down and takes off her shoes.
Shaking his head as she lay down on the bed.
"You know I love you, right? And I know you do for me, but then you love that damn girl from over fifteen years ago, why do you still love her? Why do you? You love me? And you still remember her? Are you guys destined to be?" Beatrice said while counting her fingers, lying on the bed, playing with her hair, a sad look on her face.
She gives Mark a hard time while he successfully removes her second long strapped heel.
"Why do ladies wear these things and regarding your question? What do you want? Do I love both you and Jessica? Because I can.
"No, don't love me and that, Jessica" Beatrice says, this time she sleeps off. Smiling at his friend and how long they had been together.
"Mark?! Why do you still remember that? Oh my God, you have a retentive memory. You do realize that is so embarrassing, right, Mark? That happened a year ago, stop it", Beatrice says in a low tone while looking down. The only person who can make her this way is Mark.
Seated opposite each other like they are on a date, a little space setting, a small shelter design with a roof. It has little borders where one can lean on or rest on.
Lisa had the place created for the meetings she had with her friends, taking a walk in the garden, or maybe the green house. That place is just perfect to sit and rest.
"Oh Common, we have been friends for ages, we have been friends since I came here to Deli. I mean you remember how you always defended me from those bullies," Marks added, while looking at Beatrice in his eyes.
Alfred brings in two glasses and a bottle of wine, which he opens.
"I know we have been friends but- but I always get shy around you and you know this, you know this", Beatrice replies with a solemn tone and baby look, one that means I am all yours if you want. Taking the wine glass, she takes a sip.
Smiling as he holds her hands. "You- You can be really sweet you know, I think this will be a really good idea and a good scene for your new book, you know the one you are being lazy to write?" Marks asks as he lets go of Beatrice's hand, he gulps the wine that Alfred has originally poured.
Sighing as she looks at her empty hand, she looks at his eyes, that fire doesn't seem to go down.
"I am a sweet writer, yes I know but- but eh yes I haven't been inspired lately, and it's a slow romance, burning fire kind of book, you know, it's really hard" Beatrice says trying to get herself, her eyes sparks some more but she shakes it off as she stands up, twirling her hands with her hair.
Taking two steps forward and resting on the rack, Mark folds his hands.
"You know, whatever slow romance, whatever burning fire or hot flame, I know you got this, I know that brain of yours can produce anything and everyone will love it, you are passionate about your career and you sure know how to make people fall in love with the characters you bring to life, so I trust you but for a romance, you seriously need to get a boyfriend." Mark says as he teases his friend who has her head in the cloud.
"I don't need a boyfriend, Mark-, i- Eh, I already have you and I am sure you remember how many times we have won the King and Queen of prom back in High school and how you would defend me against my ex." Beatrice lets out while taking a trip to the past.
"It has been four years Beatrice, do you?- Do you still love him? I mean why don't you want to date someone else? You are perfect, you would make a wonderful girlfriend and I know that" Mark says as he walks up to Beatrice, he holds her hands.
"Then- then why did we ever break up?" Beatrice lets out quietly as he rubs her shoulder.
*****************
What do you think? Will they end up together? She seems perfect for him, she is, should we make a bet?” Lisa suggests as they watch the kids from their room window, a glass of champagne in her wine, she hasn't taken off her dress yet.
Riley, who has just left her side to take some cookies from the mini table in their room, a light yellow coloured master bedroom, has two beds. A main bed where they sleep on as they should, the second one is beside a window, the garden can be seen from then, it's a small bed that has its own space.
More like a set aside window with its bed space, Lisa being someone who loves looking at the stars, Riley made it possible.
The second window is where Lisa is standing with the glass of champagne, swirling it as she watches the kids
“A bet on the kids? That sounds fun but then knowing our son, if he is hellbent on something he would stick with it. And remember they broke up but then I wonder why?" Riley muffles as he munches on the cookie.
"They broke up but yet they are friends, Beatrice still looks at him with that spark and ting in her eyes, I mean no one can deny that" Lisa says with the hope that Mark and Beatrice get back together.
********************************************
"I- I don't know why we broke up, I proposed it and you agreed with it, why? Why did you?" Mark asks Beatrice while looking her straight in her eyes.
How do I tell him I heard him one night saying he- he would find Jessica at all costs, how do I explain to him how he remembers a memory from over ten years ago, he was drunk but he still mentioned Jessica. Beatrice knows the answer as to why she ended it, she didn't want to be with a guy who can't seem to forget his childhood crush or a friend.
He notices how quiet and deep in thought she is.
"Hey, you okay?" Mark asks as he lets his hands slide down from her shoulders to her hands.
"Ye- yeah, I am" Beatrice replies as she clears her throat.
Pulling her closely, he touches her neck trailing it off gently before gripping it, mildly.
Turning his head, his lips touched hers, this is unexpected but she wants it too, she didn't push him away,Working his tongue, she reciprocates.
Her hands move to his neck, wrapping them around with her hands, he touches her waistline pulling her closer.
"I hope that gives you some inspiration" Mark says with a smirk on.
"Oufff, the wine is working, we should get back inside" Mark adds while he acts like the kiss didn’t mean anything.
Taken aback, Beatrice walks with him without saying a word.
She heads to the guest room while Mark leaves for his room without a word to each other. But what just happened?
Beatrice enters the guest, Alfred has already dropped her bag there, she locks the door. She rushes to her bag and brings out her phone.
Speed dialling Lana, a friend of Beatrice and Mark, the same age as Beatrice, she owns shares in the Blue heart division alongside her parents, she stands out. Her side hustle is crocheting.
They attended the same collage, best of friends for ages, Beatrice always consults her for advice.
"Hey, Mark kissed me!" Beatrice says as soon as Lana picks up.
Lying down like a baby, her legs in the air. Smiling, she rolls on the bed.
"Are you serious? Does that mean you guys will get back together?" Lana says on the other side, you can hear the excitement in her voice.
"I really hope so, I really do. We were talking about my books and all
"Oh my God, that would mean he- he really wants to take it further, you know you guys broke up back then for some reason and your bond is still so strong so that means, he would want another one, I am so happy for you" Lana says screaming and smiling too.
"But what if he brings up this Jessica girl, all over again?' Beatrice asks as she knows it has happened before.
"It is about his heirloom, you should know he will bring her up, who wouldn't and trust me a time will come when he would want to find this heirloom and would you- would you be okay with it?" Lana asks in a sad tone, she knows Beatrice all to well, she knows how her friend can be and how protective she can get, Beatrice can be a solid hard boss on the outside but with Mark she melts like water when he is around and I mean who wouldn't, graduating first class in business administration, he is well known speaker of events, a model and he is definitely and undeniably hot, and lady would melt and the fact that he is close to only Beatrice, she will do everything just to keep him, some kind of toxic love, my kind of love.
"He will find the heirloom, it isn't the first time it was missing, I told you this story before Lana, sigh find I will tell you again, now you have to pay close attention to the story." Beatrice says as she sits up and sighs, this would be a long night, she can feel it already.
