Avery was fidgety. Benj had begun to notice when they left the venue he played at earlier, but only thought it was because there were so many people, and he had come to learn that Avery hated crowds; just like him. But this was deeper than social anxiety. She was visibly upset and uncharacteristically quiet. When they had arrived at the restaurant, Avery had dipped into the bathroom, asking him to order her a burger. It had taken her a while to come out, and when she had, her eyes were red. Benj reached over the table and took her hands in his, meeting her wide, glassy eyes. She smiled fondly at him, squeezing his hands in hers reassuringly. Even though she was upset, she didn't bring it up. Avery didn't want to ruin or waste the little time she had with Benj; she enjoyed it too much. B
