Chapter 14 Unexpected Turn Of Events

3358 Words
Kameron's POV I'm abruptly woke up out of the best sleep of my life with my stunning naked lady at my side.. just as amazing of a scene as I always imagined it to be. But being woken by the sounds of indistinct yelling in the hallway is not the way I was hoping to get up from this amazing sleep.. I can't complain though, I just had the best invigorating night of my life with Violet, followed by the best sleep to top it off. So I guess not everything will be perfectly played out when it comes to being around her. There seems to be arguing and more yelling but I can't decifer what's being said let alone what the argument is even about, probably because I'm still half out of it, being in a morning haze. I hear the stomping getting closer to the room until it's right outside the door catching my attention.. A banging can be heard echoing through the room from the outside of the door as if they are going to knock it down at any moment. We don't get up fast enough as we hear the door unlock and swing open to Violet's room.. We both jump up in shock at this abrupt obviously uninvited barging in, so I squeeze Violet to my side, covering her still naked body with my body and the comforter. I have my protective hold around her as I demand from whomever is at the door. Because I can't really see with the angle their face is at and how dark it is in our room still. "What is going on?" My voice booms through the room in warning of how they have entered my ladies room without permission. "I'm so sorry to barge in but we need you Kameron! I have been looking for you! After searching your room and the guys rooms I came here in hopes you would be here." James yells in a panic as Violet asks, "Why? What's happened?" "Your mother is unconscious lady Violet and her lips are also blue.. she might be dead by the looks of things.. but we don't have anyone here with any medical knowledge except for Kameron to confirm or deny this assumption." James explains as I watch Violet's mouth drop open in shock. Obviously not expecting that to be said. "Ok James I'm not going to lie to you I'm naked under this comforter along with Vi so we need just a second to get up and I'll be right there. After I quickly get dressed of course." I inform James as his eyes go wide searching both of our faces for who knows what as he quickly shuts the door behind him giving us some privacy. "I have to see what's going on with your mother my love, or I wouldn't leave you otherwise." I try to explain my sudden leave even though she just heard what I just heard. She nods at me as I drag myself out from under her sexy naked frame reluctantly.. I then pick up my boxer breifs off the floor, pulling them up, along with my pants and even my shirt. Once the shirt is slipped over my head I look over to see Violet has the blanket wrapped around her body like some sort of robe as she heads to the closet to get something to put on I'm assuming. I don't have anytime to wait and find out if that's what she is really doing.. no matter how much I want to see her naked once again, I just can't at the moment. So I quickly make my way out of the room, shutting the door behind me as I follow a waiting James down the hall in a haste to Vanessa's room. He goes in front of me leading the way as we quickly get to the room and he opens then holds the door for me to pass by but I see the door starting to close once again. I push the door all the way open as it squeaks loudly gaining everyone's attention that seems to be in the room surrounding the body on the bed. This scene has collected a majority of the people in this mansion at the moment, filling the room up more than expected. I walk to Vanessa's side taking her wrist into my hand and pressing my fingers down as I set my head to her chest waiting for a heart beat in one way or another. By feeling it or hearing it.. hopefully. I hold my breath in anticipation and nothing can be heard coming from the cold limp body. I put my fingers to her throat seeing if I can feel even a faint heart beat and nothing once again. I start to press on her chest to see if CPR might work but I then really notice the curious details of her lips because of the close proximity. Her lips are blue but around them is a redness. I tip her head back taking a look around at every inch of her face that I can see. I'm trying to see if there are any more signs of what might has happened to her. I lean in slowly and smell a chemical.. no maybe gasoline smell coming from her lips and I know exactly what that means.. I have read about this before in my text books.. we had a whole section on this exact subject and I passed it with flying colors coincidentally. I quickly sit up away from her lifeless body. "She has been poisoned and has been dead for hours I would assume by the coloring and temperatureof her body." I say to no one in particular just informing everyone around me. "Well you saw how much she was drinking last night and how she was already passed out before we headed to bed." Vance says from behind me as I nod then reply. "I know that and can see why you would say that.. but this is not the side effects of alcohol poisoning.. we would have to get her tested to confirm my theory.. but by the looks of the redness around her lips and the chemical smell that's on her mouth, those are basic signs of poisoning." I inform him as Vincent states. "Well our father was the last one to be with her that I know of. He took her to her room without any of us following behind.. do you think he could have done this?" "Well they were fighting all last night like the cats and dogs that they seem to be when they just get close to each other." Violet adds gaining my attention. I stand up quickly turning around and trying to block Violet's view of the scarring scene before her. "Baby you don't want to see this please." I beg her but I see the look in her eyes that is telling me what I was hoping didn't happen, did in fact happen.. I can already tell that the damage is done she has seen her mother dead in every sense of the word. I have seen some dead just working at a busy city hospital.. it's bound to happen in my career.. but I didn't want that for her.. She didn't choose this type of career and is so sweet and innocent. She doesn't need this horrible image in her head. I quickly pull the sheet off of the bed as I cover up the dead body in hopes I was quick enough for her to maybe eventually forget this and not see too much detail to scar her for life. I turn around and lock my gaze on her frame. I watch her eyes water up, filling with tears but not falling just yet. I pull her into my protective embrace rubbing her back as she cries into my chest so I hold her tighter into my comforting frame. I hate how bad all this has been for her.. I hate seeing her hurt and stressed out but how could she not be when all this s**t is going on around her. Just straight stressful for anyone to endure. "Dammit Vi I didn't want you to see that.. I have seen dead bodies but I never wanted you to.. especially seeing your mother of all people.. are you ok?" I whisper to her as she sniffles and nods in my hold. "I don't know where Peter is at." James says to us as I command. "Someone needs to find him.. he might be the reason for her death or knows what happened to her." James hurrys past me and out of the room. "Someone needs to call 911 to get the police out here too." I say to no one in particular as I watch Vance nod. He takes his cell phone and says without hesitation. "I have no service." Vincent grabs his phone looking at it as he retorts. "I don't either.. maybe the storm knocked out the cell phone tower that's nearby.. does this place have a landline?" "Who has a landline anymore?" Melissa asks from behind us as I see them shrug their shoulders. Everyone around pulls out their cellphones and it seems that no one has service. "What is going on here?!" I can hear yelling demands from Peter down the hallway getting louder the closer he gets, until he is pushed into the room with James right behind him. Almost boxing him into the room like a trap, just in case. I still hold onto Violet as I turn the both of our bodies so I can face Peter at the doors entrance. "Peter, Vanessa is dead.. by poisoning in her system and you were the last to see her so we needed to talk to you." I explain to him as his mouth drops open. I check out his facial features trying to see if the shock is fake or not. It looks genuine to me but I won't go by that just because I know better than to believe anything but facts not feelings when it comes to these type of situatuons. Especially when I'm already personally invested into the situation. "She was so messed up drunk last night that I had to carry her to her room because she was already passed out on the floor downstairs.. So I wouldn't doubt she died of alcohol poisoning." He says to me just like the guys did, automatically assuming what kind of poisoning it was because of the situation. "It's not that kind of poisoning sir.." I say as he looks concerned and replies, "Wait.. do you think she brought drugs here and did her meth or heroin with the alcohol and set it all over the top.. maybe overdosing?" I shake my head as I quickly reply to his inquiry. "there is redness around her lips along with a smell of gasoline or chemicals by her mouth which are the two most common signs of not overdosing but poisoning." I inform getting him up to speed on the situation. "What if she got poisoned by one of the drinks she had last night? Is that possible?" Violet says gaining my attention. I think about that for a second before I respond. "Some poisons work right away so we would have noticed if that was the case and she was drinking a lot in front of us.. but some take time to really get through your body before they fully take effect.. if she did have the poison added to one of her drinks then you would think we would have noticed those signs.. even if it took effect later.. right?" "What if she already had the poison in her system making her pass out on the floor and we just assumed it was the alcohol?" Violet adds as I nod. "That is a possibility." I reply as we hear from behind us. "You just did a play by play of the situation.. so are you the one that poisoned our mother?" Vincent accuses of Violet as her eyes go wide, shaking her head. "I would never do that!" She explains in a panic as Vance replies, "You hated her more than a lot of people Violet." "I was just thinking of a book I read the other day.. that's where I got the idea from." She tries to explain as the guys don't waver from their accusing looks directed right at her. She scoffs at that look from them along with the accusation they made, as she spats back at her brothers, "You both hated her as much as I did so don't you dare point fingers at me, accusing me of this horrible act!" She points in their direction as I feel her hold on me tighten and I do the same for her out of protectiveness. I don't like the accusing fingers being pointed at her.. I don't think she could ever do anything like that.. but that's why it's good to go with facts and not feelings when it comes to situations such as this. It's hard to deffrinciate facts from feelings when your personally invested in a situation such as this. "Well maybe she was just drunk and got poisoned as she was passed out so she couldn't fight back." Chad says to us as I shrug my shoulders. "It would be hard to get the poison into her system that way but not impossible. The only person I know that was with Vanessa last after she passed out was Peter who brought her to her room." "It wasn't me! I didn't kill anyone.. sure I didn't get along with her and fought almost the whole night with just her.. doesn't mean I wanted her dead. I just didn't want to be around her hence why I left her for a better life.. I don't know what to do to prove it.. maybe a lie detector when we can get the cops here to prove I'm not out here killing people like some sort of lunatic." He yells for everyone around him to hear. I nod as I reply, "Well depending on what the poison is.. there could still be traces on the killers hands.. so when the cops get here we can figure that out.. But James do you have a landline? None of us have cell phone service and need to call for an ambulance and the cops." I explain as he retorts. "We do still have a landline but it's in the kitchen.. I'll be right back sir." I hear him bolt out of the room leaving us all alone in a nervous awkward silence. You can just feel the tension building within the silence because no one knows what to say at this point as we all shoot out accusing glares at one another. That only adds to the intense anger that seems to fill the room in no time at all. We don't have to wait too long at all before James quick foot steps running down the hall can be heard before he even enters the room. "The landline is out of order as well.. the weather must have done more damage than we originally thought." He explains to us as I ask. "Ok.. so we need to take her body to the hospital where we can contact the police.." I explain as everyone keeps looking back and forth before Barb exclaims, "Who would we choose to take her? We don't know who did this to her.. so as of right now we are all suspect to the murder of Vanessa.. So no one can leave just in case they are the murderer making a run for it." I nod at that. "Ok so we will just have to have an investigation of our own and hopefully figure out who the culprit is so we can get this all figured out sooner over later." I state to them as it gets so quiet in that room that you could hear a pin drop. "Ok.. so who found her in here like this?" I ask as James reluctantly raises his hand. "I saw and heard how wasted she was so I was trying to to wake her up to make sure she had time to get ready before breakfast..I wanted to see her as sober as possible for the funeral today.. but once I turned on the light and shook her slightly with no response whatsoever.. I then noticed her lips coloring along with her paler than normal skin.. I left the room looking for you sir. I went from room to room waking multiple people up just trying to find you.. I finally found you with the reluctant help of the people around me because we were just trying to figure out where you could be and once I found you.. well you know the rest sir." I nod at that as I take a look around the room looking for any signs of a struggle and there is nothing.. nothing looks disturbed whatsoever. But that doesn't mean anything because the culprit could have cleaned up afterwards. "Ok Peter what happened when you brought her up here last night?" I ask curiously. I watch him shake his head as he says, "Nothing exciting. She was passed out the whole time just completely limp in my arms.. so I just brought her into here and layed her down on the bed.. then covering her up before I left the room." I think about this as I suggest, "Maybe it was in the bottle of whiskey she was drinking.." I watch Vance, Melissa and Dennis shake their heads at that suggestion. "No we were all drinking from from same bottle as her.. we all shared at the same time and the rest of us are fine." Dennis explains as I curiously nod at that statent alone. "Maybe we are looking at this all wrong.. maybe it was not in the drinks like we automatically assumed.. what if it got into her system earlier in the night by the food and then once it ran it's course through her body it hit her after it had enough time to get through her organs.. and it just ended up being after the drinks she had." Violet suggests as I nod understanding what she is meaning, before stating back. "In most cases that I have read about.. if they were poisoned through food and it's a slow acting poison then she would have been feeling nauseous and even thrown up if not thrown up multiple times.. so I honestly think it must have been a fast acting poison that she was given to knock her out pretty instantly before she could even get it out of her system. But none of that is set in stone by any means.. I'm just going off of what I learned from my poisons course." I explain to everyone as they nod not knowing what else to do. "What do we do then?" Barbera asks as I let out a deep breathe thinking to myself. "I think we should lock her body in here so the culprit can't get rid of any evidence until we can call for the cops.. But none of us can leave this mansion yet so I think we all just need to stick together so no one else can get hurt.. so go get changed into your clothes for the day and join me down in the main room where we will discuss this more as we try to figure out what else to do. But don't take longer than 30 minutes.. if you do then we will be forced to come get you to make sure your not doing anything suspicious.. because if your not with us then we will just assume your against us." I state as everyone nods and clears out of the room in no time at all heading to their rooms.
