Chapter 20

We’re finally on our way .The forest, gave us the cars it wanted us to have they are safely parked in an underground parking lot beneath the cabin. We’re halfway home already. Don’t know if it’s because the return trip always seems shorter than the way out. Or maybe it’s because we’re tracking our sick mate at breakneck speed via a necklace Nonna gifted her earlier. “someone remind me to ask Granny how she’s so good at all this stuff once all this is settled.”

Miko looks over from the driver’s seat. “ quite frankly at this point, I don’t care how any of this is happening. The only thing I need to happen is that my mate and cubs is okay.”

Alexander heavily agreed. “ My bear has never been so anxious before it feels like we’re moving in slow motion.”

Stefan was finding his own way to cope with the situation Through his computer he was busying himself trying to figure out which Alpha Otis out of three that that they knew of one was an alpha to be in the east, two were in the southern area.

Alpha Otis of the pine paw pack they had been started around ten years ago, and alpha Otis of the Blood tooth pack.

He had every intention of hacking into all of their databases so the moment they got conformation they could go in and eliminate the person that put his mate and cubs in danger, once and for all.

It was the only way he knew of to show his mate that they were willing to do whatever it took to ensure their safety and peace of mind.

He got an alert on his Apple watch, it was Nonna “two things , we’re stopping to refuel, and two, my beloved Lord Icor is awake he’s meeting us there.”

“ you mean after we get there?”

“ not quite. Travel by wing is faster than traveling on land. He will meet us there.”

Chapter 21

“ I can see the border from here Nia. What do you want to do when we meet patrol?

“ never met a patrol in the field before have you? I just need them to get my Papa so I can let him know Mom needs help.”

“ Nia, I think we need to help you first at this point! You can’t even walk anymore. I don’t think you’re gonna get any better until these babies are out, even then… “

They weren’t even fully at the border when they were accosted by patrol guards. “ Stop right where you are, what is your business here?”

Finius was still out and he hadn’t had a chance to see what Somnia had been doing for him in their sleep. He doesn’t look like your typical fourteen year old snake shifter anymore, no he was now eight and half foot king Cobra with scales like a dragon. So even at his friendliest he still looked like he could kill you with one look.

Somnia cast a suspicious glance at the patrols. She knew from experience that showing any weakness was just inviting her and her family to a healthy beating or worse.

So even though what she wants to say is please help us. What comes out of her mouth is “ we need to see your Alpha.”

Fin slowly turned and looked at her. You wouldn’t think a snake could stretch his eyes any bigger, but he had never seen this commanding side of his friend before. In this moment he saw her truly as an alpha. The look in her eyes said that even sick as dog she would take all of them on and she might just win. Unfortunately that also hurt the pride of these patrol guards and made them feel compelled to assert some form of dominance. How dare these rouges show up at their borders and make e demands of them!

Before Fin could think to react, one of the patrols was crossing over with the intention of touching one of them. “ you can meet our alpha from the cells!”

But before his hand could come within one foot of them Nia was ready. She reached out and slapped his hand away so hard that his hand flew back and hit him in the mouth hard enough to knock his tooth loose.

“ I did not give you permission to touch me! My pack, or My cubs! I said fetch your Alpha Now!

With those words, a huge wave of power erupted from within her and formed a force field around them.

Finius could not believe the wild turn this exchange had taken so quickly. His goal was to take the hits so his friend wouldn’t use her power and get any sicker. But because of these stupid guards who obviously can’t be bothered to even look to see that they are dealing with a bunch of desperate, sickly kids he never even got a chance to try. He turned around in just enough time to catch Amber and Nia from falling at the same time. Amber has fallen into a deep sleep, but Nia was bleeding from her nose and ears, then she started coughing up blood.

Fin was in full blown panic mode now . “ What’s wrong with you people! Who tries to attack a pregnant woman with a child! Do you feel like a man now! Nia you weren’t supposed to do that you promised!

Nia looked at her friend and weakly said “ had to do it. You and Amber will never know what it feels like to be touched without permission! Never. Never! Stay safe in our bubble you’re a good beta, good friend.

“ Nia, stay awake! I don’t know what to do!”

“ wake me when alpha comes out, I just need a nap and.” This time she was too weak to keep a grimace of pain off her face.
