~ Zephyr ~

One final glance. I gave Aurora one final glance and walked out of the room with a smile.
A smile, which dropped when I saw Ryder, standing outside there, leaning casually against a pillar with his hands folded on his chest and just staring at me with a blank expression.
“What is your problem?” I snapped angrily. Why was I angry? I have no idea but Ryder tends to have that effect on me every single time.
Ryder raised up his hands in mock surrender and smiled cockily, “I am not here to fight with you tiger, you know that.”
“Hmmmmm.”
Sure I knew. Ryder never looks for a fight and I guess that was the annoying thing about him.
He was always calm, and collected and it irks me because how could he just be so…..perfect even in the face of chaos?
I wanted to hate him so much because he is an enemy but his calmness was making it impossible to.
He never really did anything wrong to me, never challenged me in any way.
And the fact that he makes it so hard to fight with him is why I am always irritated with him.
“Then perhaps get out of my way and stop staring at me like an idiot.”
He chuckled again, moving aside as I brushed past him.
“Xander is not going to give in, Zephyr.” He murmured, “at least not for now. So perhaps if this girl is so important to you, you should try approaching things with a less hot attitude. He is stronger than you so use your senses not your anger.”
I whirled around, “Xavier does not respond to a less hot head.”
“Have you ever tried it? He doesn't want her. He is only keeping her here as a challenge because he has seen how much you want her.”
Before I could respond, Ryder only smiled and walked away patting my shoulder as he sauntered past me.
He was right.
The mother fucker was right, annoying as that is to admit.
I gritted my teeth and clenched my fists in irritation as Rder’s words rang all over again in my head.
“Zeph,”
Turning around, I smiled when I saw Mindy walking towards me, my anger instantly vanishing.
“Hello witch.”
“I need to talk to you. All three of you.”
“You want to have all three of us together in the same room? Remember how wonderfully that turned out some weeks ago?”
Mindy had always been the peacemaker in the family, always trying as much as she could to bring us together and although it was hard to see her disappointments everytime her efforts proved futile, even so knew that peace was something that could not be possible between my brothers and i.
But right now there was fear, and worry in her eyes and it made the hairs at my back stand.
“What is wrong?” I asked when she only bit her lip tightly at me earlier but she shook her head.
“This is very important. I need to talk to you. I already spoke to Xander and he is in the hall waiting. Please go let me see if I can catch up with Ryder now and get him too.”
She rushed off in a run and with a frown I walked to the large hall where Xander was already waiting like she said, and he didn't even act like he noticed me.
Which is good I guess. Better to pretend that none of us were here.
We only had to wait for a few more minutes before Mindy entered followed by Ryder who looked just as concerned as I felt.
Mindy must have had one of her visions and they were never things to take lightly.
“So what's wrong?” I asked as soon as we were all settled and she sighed.
“There's a very big problem. When I say big I mean gigantic,” she paused but none of us said a word then with another sigh she continued, “I had a troublesome vision and this - this cannot be neglected.”
“What did you see?” Xander snapped impatiently.
“Blood. War, cries of small children and innocent women. Fleshes rotting and burning. Pure chaos, same thing I've been seeing for months now, but this time around amidst this chaos a saviour arose, saving those who needed to be saved.”
She shuddered and I stared in surprise.
“If you are trying to warn us against war with each other,” Ryder said calmly, “then you do not have to worry because I'm sure we wouldn't go that far.” He gave each of us a pointed glare as if his words were a warning.
“I do not believe that. With the way things are going I won't be surprised if a war comes out of it in the next few years. But it's not war between the three of you that I saw. What I saw wasn't war at all, Ryder — it was a massacre.”
“Can you explain, Mindy? Not all of us speak witch.”
She ignored my irritated outburst and hugged herself shaking.
“I saw something else. The….the beast. Alpha Callum.”
Silence followed her words and I looked at my brother wondering if they were thinking the same thing I was thinking.
And judging from the way their eyes were slightly widened, they were definitely thinking the same thing.
“What are you saying Mindy?” Xander asked, with a surprisingly calm composure.
“He's coming. He will come for Shadowfang and he will destroy every single thing that we have built, everything that we have. He will kill us all Xander. He will be our doom…..our end.”
I shivered.
Alpha Callum…was a name you do not hear mist people mentioning casually. Instead he has been nicknamed across the globe as ‘’The Beast.’
A name that suited him to the core.
He was the alpha of the Dark claws pack, and also a hybrid.
And he was feared, well feared by everyone who has grown old enough to recognize what fear was - because of his brutality.
The Beast conquers lands and other packs. That's what he does, what he has been doing for a dozen years now and wherever he goes, he wins.
Thanks to this, his army, his pack, is now the strongest in the whole world. Even stronger than ten packs combined.
If he was indeed coming for us, then truly we are doomed.
“Let him come,” Xander Said, “We will get ready and we will send him to his doom.”
“Shut the f**k up Xander,” the words left my lips before I could stop them.
How could he be arrogant and stupid?
“Excuse me?”
“I said shut the f**k up!! And perhaps get out of that stupid head of yours and start being realistic. Who do you think you are?”
Xander's nostrils flared and he stood up from his chair, “I think I'm the person who will smash your brains out of your shiny head if you say another word.”
“Yeah, I dare you to come give it a try you i***t!!”
I dug my feet into the ground, getting ready to pounce as his eyes burned hot with visible anger.
Mindy stepped in between us, before Xander could rush towards me.
"What on earth is wrong with you two???" She yelled, throwing her hands in the air. " What is wrong with you two? Are you daft or just plain stupid! You both are adults for god's sake so I believe you are old enough to act mature when presented with a serious matter - for just a few minutes."
Xavier looked away with a grimace, that perfectly mirrored the feeling in my gut at the moment.
"We all know that you hate each other. Fine! Go take a f*****g trophy for hating each other. But just for once I'd appreciate it if you two can be smart enough to look beyond that hate, to look outside that hate."
She gave us each a death glare, but I said nothing and neither did Xander.
Mindy inhaled sharply and released a shaky breath, "Please I'm begging. For now, just try to look beyond this silly hate because dear brothers..... We have a bigger enemy right now. An enemy bigger than all of us combined and our first step to at least standing a chance, is to work together.”
