༺ WE ARE ALL DOOMED

~ Ryder ~ ༺༺♡♡༻༻ I did not say a word. Not that anyone expected me to. Nah…. I just sat back on my chair watching the interesting drama unfold before me. It always baffles me how anger can make people blind to the obvious truth. Same way it is making my brothers blind to the current threat we are possibly saving. Not all they care about is their anger and inflated Ego. Just like our father. And that was what took him to his grave. Hopefully it does not end these block heads either. And it hurts me to see Mindy who is the youngest amongst us, trying so hard to pull things together but they keep ruining it. What for? Well, I hope right now she realises that she's fighting a losing battle. Because even though they were not saying a word I recognized that fire in Zephyr's eyes, and I recognized the cold and blank mask that had fallen over Xander's face. They were not done. "Am I understood???" Mindy . Instead of answering, the two of them turned around and stormed away. "Oh for heaven's sake." I almost laughed as Mindy collapsed into a chair, obviously exhausted. "Don't worry sister," I said taking her hand, "Just leave them to me. I'll talk to them and bring them to order." "Really? Thank you so much. At least I've got one reasonable brother." "Xander and Zephyr will come around, I promise. You know what their problem is." Mindy nodded sadly, "Yes, I know." "Now I know how stressed you must be. So don't worry anymore. Just go inside your chambers and get a good rest. I'll come see you tonight." She nodded giving me a grateful smile and I stood up, kissing her on the cheek before I left the hall too. But Instead of heading towards my own lands, I made a cut and walked into an empty yard that was fenced around and made a no entry zone for most people. Most people except me of course. I looked at the gravestones beautifully carved in the middle of the empty yard and smiled sadly. But before I could walk towards them, I noticed a figure approaching. Zephyr. He had a jar in his hand and was wearing a solemn look. A look that was a very rare expression for him. "What are you doing here?" I asked and he scoffed. "It's December 10th, Ryder. I remember what today is and you know too well that I wouldn't miss being here." I know. Despite our differences, it was kind of a yearly tradition for us to sit together by my mother's grave and drink with her on this day. It was the only time Zephyr and I didn't fight. "Thank you." I murmured. Zephyr brought out a bench by the fence and we both sat down staring at the two gravestones. My mother, who had died years ago during delivery and the baby who had died three days later. Something I would never get over. "I know she will be resting beautifully up there. I know she will be happy because she deserves happiness," Zephyr said, "she was the purest of souls. The kindest. The goddess would be honoured to welcome her spirit in the heavens." "She was. I am sure she is but that isn't any consolation." "She fed me. Loved and took care of me. She practically raised me even though I wasn't her son." True that. Zephyr and I basically grew up together like brothers because he was always in our house, running after my mum since he was a kid. I smiled sadly at the bittersweet memories. We used to sneak to the kitchen together to steal her cookies. Hmmmm. And sometimes I do wonder, how did we get from being two little boys who worked together to cause terror to help, to being enemies who couldn't bear the sight of each other. “What do you think about the vision Mindy had?” Zephyr asked and I raised my brow, surprised that he was even willing to talk to me about it. “We both know our sister well. If she sees it, then it will happen and it will happen soon.” Zephyr closed his eyes, “We are really doomed. We do not stand a chance against Callum even if we align with other packs.” None of the other packs would even agree to stand for a war against the beast, but I didn't say that. “We might not have a chance, I agree. But our low odds would go up a bit if we actually brought our heads together and thought of a solution instead of always fighting.” He didn't object like I thought he would and his silence and calmness was surprising. I looked at him closely and was baffled to see that even with his cool demeanour, Zephyr was scared. “He will ruin us all regardless.” “Maybe brother. Maybe,” I clapped his back, “but at least we are not going down without a fight, without trying our best. If Callum is going to be our end, we might as well make it something he would remember.” But one thing I know for sure is that there's a way. If Mindy saw a doom she must have seen a loophole that could be a solution. There's always a loophole. “You are always so calm and smart even during chaos. You are just like your mother and I'm sure she would be very proud of you.” That was the nicest thing anyone could say to me, and I could only smile in appreciation. Zephyr opened his mouth but before he could speak, a loud noise interrupted and we stood up immediately on alert, just in time to see a guard running towards the fence. “My Lords…..soldiers, they are everywhere! In all the three lands, we are outnumbered. We are under attack!!!” Zephyr and I exchanged a glance before we started running. Under attack. Dear heavens, The Beast was here already?
