~ Aurora ~

It was the noise that woke me up. Either the loud noise or the nightmare but it was definitely the noise.
My heart flew to my throat at the sounds of people yelling, wolves howling and swords clashing.
What the f**k was happening?
What was happening!!
I screamed when the door opened but it was only Mindy. Her purple eyes were shining brighter than normal and she grabbed my hands.
“Come on. I need to get you to safety, we are under attack.”
“What's happening?”
“We are under attack!” She responded again calmly.
Yes I heard it the first time she said it but from who? Who on earth is attacking?
But I should not be surprised because - this was a rogue's territory. Battle is common. I definitely shouldn't panic.
I followed Mindy outside and oh heavens, the once empty compound was filled with chaos. There were men and women and wolves fighting everywhere.
“Stay behind me, as close as you can, and walk fast!” I have never seen Mindy like this before so I obeyed her without a question.
Two men blocked us on the way and I froze. I know those uniforms, I know those markings.
Before they could raise their sword up, Mindy punched her fists into the air, and out of nowhere purple fire filled her hands.
The men's eyes widened just before she yelled and threw the balls of fire at them, and with a flick of her hand threw their burning bodies out of our way - all without touching them.
Wow!!
I recovered from my initial shock and kept following behind her.
More men attacked but she threw them off by just shooting them with the large balls and rings of fire in her hands.
However one came from the sides before she could shoot, swinging his sword at her and I yelled.
But Mindy was very fast. She dodged the swords, making the soldier stagger a little bit and kicked him in his stomach bringing him to his knees.
When he caved, Mindy pressed her hands on his head, and snapped his heck without hesitation.
I shivered at how brutal she was. This was the calm sweet lady who was always smiling, but there was nothing sweet about the purple glow in her eyes or the murderous look on her face.
I reminded myself to never cross her again.
She led me to a hall and closed the gates with a swear.
“We will be safe there.”
“What about everyone else?” I asked and Mindy chuckled.
“We are rogues from birth dear. We fight for a living so trust me when I day they the i***t who dared to trespass our territory will not leave here unmarked. We can take care of ourselves.”
And somehow I believed her - and strongly hoped that no one would end up harmed or dead.
Because I'd never forgive myself.
Not when all this is my fault.
I recognize the soldier's uniform.
Unless I'm mistaken, I could definitely swear that those were Cage's men.
The whole noise lasted for what seemed to be hours. Hours of Mindy and I just sitting alone in the hall waiting.
Finally, the door opened and Ryder walked in first followed by his brothers and two women, one of which I recognised to be Xander's mother.
“What happened?” Mindy asked.
“They retreated the bastard. Luckily there were no casualties on our end, but we will need your help healing a few cuts on the soldiers.”
“Sure.”
“Mindy dear, how are you doing? Are you safe where you were hurt?”
“Mother,” Mindy rolled her eyes, “I am very safe thank you. Please do not overreact, you know I can take good care of myself.”
“Yes, yes, yes, I know, I know. But that won't stop me from worrying and you know that too.”
She sat down but not without throwing me a disgusted glare and murmuring, “I see we are still housing outsiders.”
“Mother,” Xander called harshly, “Be nice.”
“When is she ever nice?” The other woman murmured and I winced, sensing a tension in the air.
“Is there something you would love to tell me?”
“Please, you two should behave. We have more pressing matters at hand right now.”
The other woman sat beside me, flashing me a nice smile.
“Do we know the men?” Mindy asked, tapping her feet on the floor and all three of her brothers shrugged.
“We do not know them and we have no idea what they are after either.” Zephyr answered and I sighed.
“I know them,” I whispered and all six heads turned towards me, “They are Alpha Cage's soldiers. My ex mate, and I suspect that they were here to either kill me or bring me to him.”
“Cage of the Crescent pack?” Xander asked and I nodded.
They looked surprised and I shifted uncomfortably in my seat.
I haven't really told them what happened to me.
“So you boys pick a girl out of nowhere, and she's already bringing trouble for us. Well, what are we waiting for? Let's send her back where she came from because none of our people will die for her.”
“That's not happening mother!” Xander interrupts his mother before she could continue, “Aurora stays here as we are going to do every single thing we can to protect her. Anyone who wants to get to her will have to cross me first!”
The woman looked genuinely shocked.
“Who on earth is she? What's she that we will have to risk our lives for?”
“She's our mate.” Zephyr snapped before Xander could respond, “so yes if we have to risk everything for her safety then so be it. Because she would soon be the queen of these lands.”
Silence followed his words. The two women froze in their seats and after a few seconds, Xander's mum turned her gaze to me and I swear I have never seen such an amount of hate and disgust in anybody's eyes before.
“Wait a minute…” the other woman said, “when you say ‘’our’ what exactly do you mean?”
“Well she's mated to all three of them.” Mindy explained clearing the air.
“Well I'd be damned,” the other woman whistled and thankfully there was no hatred in her eyes. Just laughter.
“My son Zephyr never told me about this mate. You have a mate and you didn't tell me boy?”
Zephyr blushed looking all flustered, “it is still very complicated.”
.but the woman waved off his words with a hiss and turned to me.
“You are a very beautiful young woman and I can't believe that you are my daughter in law.”
Now how do I tell her that I'm actually going to stay for only one month and reject them all?
