A pounding on the door scares me from my sleep and I just know I resemble a cartoon with my crazy hair and unsteady body as I sit straight up in bed. It is darker in the bedroom than when I fell asleep, the only light illuminating the room from the TV. Emerson jumps out of bed like there's a fire, the abrupt wake-up startling him as well. He opens the door and the light from the hallway pours in the room.
"What do you want man?" he grumbles with one hand blocking the light and one holding the door in place so no one sees me naked.
"What do I want? Dude it's 8:30 at night. Elder Hardwick and Doctor Hawke have been here for over an hour. The girls and Luke are supposed to shift in 30 minutes," Declan says, irritation dripping from every word.
