He seemed to enjoy my resistance because he smiled at me. "I think the conversation has lasted enough," he told me.
After saying that, he stood up and gave me a particularly disturbing look. "I will be back, but now I have to make a call."
He started moving away with his phone but then stopped. "On second thought, you should hear what I wanted to say to the other person," he said.
"Don’t think you can scare me," I responded. "I have seen a lot of things in my life, and plenty of them are scary. Whatever you are planning to say to the other person can't possibly move me."
