TAKEN HOSTAGE BY THE ALPHA

713 Words
**Elijah Contreras** I ran through the forest, my heart pounding, following the unmistakable scent of my Alpha. Kayne Alexander North, my best friend and the ruthless leader of the North Pack was in trouble, and I couldn’t waste any time. Kayne’s message had been brief, a desperate call through our mind link. Without a second thought, I was on my way, my mind racing with anxiety. The scent grew stronger as I sprinted through the underbrush, the leaves and branches whipping past me. I knew I was getting close. Finally, I stumbled into a small clearing and there he was, lying on the ground, naked and unconscious. My eyes widened in shock. But then, I noticed her. A girl stood next to him, dressed in shabby clothes, the lower half of her shirt torn, revealing her slim waist. Our eyes met, and she took a step back. My fists clenched at my sides, and I glared at her, anger boiling inside me. “What have you done?!” I shouted through gritted teeth, the accusation clear in my voice. “It’s not what it looks like,” she replied defensively, her eyes wide with fear. “Get away from him!” I demanded, closing the distance between us in a flash. I grabbed her neck with one hand, my claws digging into her skin as she struggled against my grip. She was no match for my strength. “Stop!” A deep voice ordered from nearby. We both turned to see Kayne, finally conscious, looking at us with a hard expression. He slowly stood up, his gaze locked on the girl. “Let her go, Elijah,” Kayne commanded. I reluctantly released her, stepping back but never taking my eyes off her. “Alpha,” I acknowledged him with a brief nod, handing him a pair of shorts I’d had with me. Cerise averted her eyes as Kayne dressed, but I could see the realization dawning on her face. She had no idea who she was dealing with. “Why’d you stop me? She’s the one that attacked you!” I couldn’t contain my frustration. “Attacked him? Correction, I saved his life,” she retorted, her voice filled with indignation. “Why would I bother staying back and helping him if I was the one who attacked him?” I growled in frustration and took a step towards her, but Kayne grabbed me, holding onto my arm and pulling me back in time. “You’re one of them,” Kayne stated with his eyes sweeping over her appearance and disgust laced in his tone. Kayne’s anger was palpable, his hatred for rogues clear. And she was a rogue. But she had also dressed his wounds. There was more to this story, and Kayne seemed to realize it too. “I say we kill her, right here, right now. For trespassing and for not telling the truth,” I suggested, my rage barely contained. “Maybe we should,” Kayne echoed, his voice cold. The pure look of hatred in their eyes was enough to make us notice her panic and fear. “Look, this is all a misunderstanding, okay? I am not one of those people you keep talking about and I was not the one who made you pass out in the middle of the woods. If I was, then why would I bother staying back and helping you to stop bleeding? If I knew that I would be wrongly accused for this whole misunderstanding, then I should’ve just minded my own business and let you bleed to death instead,” she reasoned with a calm tone. Kayne and I exchanged a glance, likely communicating through our mind link. Then Kayne stepped forward, his eyes locking with hers. The intense eye contact was almost unbearable, a mix of emotions swirling between them. Kayne was still in pain and anger after being betrayed by his wife, which made him not only strengthen a strong hatred for rogues but develop one for women as well. Although the woman standing in front of him has a strong rogue scent around her, she saved him after all. Then, Kayne walked towards her and grabbed her by the arm. “You are coming with us.”
