2 months later.
I wiped a tear that rolled down my cheeks as I stared at the epitaph that read Hope Ellsworth.
Something's are easier to understand if we don't think logically.
“I promise to do right with this second chance." I smiled as I dropped the plain jasmine flowers by the grave. It was my favorite and Charlotte hated it, I hoped deep down her spirit in my body was tossing and turning.
“I don't know why you always do this," Dylan sighed as I got back into the car.
I bit the inside of my cheeks trying to contain the words I really wanted to say.
“The paparazzi are watching." I murmured and gave a practiced smile and leaned in seductively. “If we ever want to go public with our relationship we need to play the grieving part for my dead sister and your dead wife, honey comb." I batted my eyelashes and settled back into my seat.
I had learnt how to play Dylan's loving Charlotte fast, easy and convincing.
“Char." My teeth gnashed against each other, I still haven't gotten used to being addressed by a name that irritated me so much.
Dylan's eyes darted from the busy road to my face.“I planned a romantic dinner tomorrow night." He beamed, tapping his hands excitedly on the steering wheel.
"Dylan," I started but he barrelled.
"We've gotta maintain space during this period. I know, baby, it's been two months already, nobody cares for that long."
I did, I cared. I knew what he wanted, he wanted to get intimate with me and I had successfully averted that, I wasn't ready because that meant the start of my list. The revenge list.
1.Infect Dylan with an STI.
“I booked it far out of town." He snapped me back from my thoughts.
"Hm." I nodded my head. "Pick me up by 8." I winked quickly slipping back into character.
He laughed, a genuine deep throaty laugh as he pulled up at the driveway of Charlotte's home.
He quickly stepped out and opened the door for me and so quickly my chest heaved in pain. Dylan never did that for me, no, never for Hope.
I got out of the car, grabbed my bag and strutted back into the house without a single thank you or good bye.
The house still smelt heavily of her, Chanel, strawberries and her stupid love for lavender incense. It made my head throb harder.
It was a hard pill to swallow that Dylan actually loved Charlotte. Charlotte was self centered, a challenge, materialistic, confident, seductive and hard to please and that was what kept Dylan on his toes.
“Hello Alejandro." I said into my phone as I dropped my bag in the bathroom sink.
Alejandro was Charlotte's manager, the only person that could actually tolerate her excesses and he was what I could call her only friend. Alejandro was a man of everything.
“Hey baby girl!" He laughed, his high pitched voice almost piercing through my phone's screen.
We'd gotten closer everyday, he was the only one aside Dylan that ever visited, that's if I exclude the thousand fan mail. I knew he was the man for the job.
“I need your help." I bit my lips, whatever I wanted to ask, I'm pretty sure he's never heard of such a favour.
“Anything for you." I could hear the smile in his voice.
"I need a girl that feels like me, got herpes and is ready to f**k tonight. She'll be paid well."
There was a long silence and then the sound of Alejandro's strong laughter erupted.“Girl please, be for real." he scoffed.
“I'm serious." I said through gritted teeth, trying to sound more serious than ever.
“What?" His tone changed. “Herpes? What— f**k who?" I could hear the thousand thoughts running through his head.
“That's not the bone of contention," I mumbled almost inaudibly.
“I can't do that girl, not even for you, all my girls trust me with all their secrets."
“Come on, she'll be paid heavily and I'll owe you big time."
"I can't Char." There was reluctance in his voice and I knew I couldn't do this without his help.
"I'll star in another show if you help me." I blurted out the words too hot for my mouth.
There was a pause as if he was checking all his cards.
“Charlotte, what you're asking for is dangerous and illegal," he sighed. “I really can't."
“Please Alejandro, whatever movie you want, I'll star in it."
“I really—"
“Two movies." I blurted out yet again. “Two movies of your choice, I'll come out of my break and start immediately."
There was a longer pause now and the risk at stake hung heavily over our heads.
"How do you protect the girl if this backfires?" He asked.
“Immediately she's done with the job, I'll fly her abroad if she's willing and if not, we can sign a non-disclosure agreement." I presented my proposal, my voice laced with desperation.
“Both." He interjected. “She'll do both."
“You know a girl?" I asked, surprised he'd gotten someone fast enough.
“Darling,I know a girl for everything."
“Thank you," I gushed out before I could catch my character back.
"Ah ah ah! No thank you yet, I'll speak to her and see if she can."
I nodded my head as my eyes locked in with my reflection in the bathroom mirror and I dropped the call.
I studied the woman in the mirror, the woman Dylan loved, the woman Hollywood loved. Even though I was in her body I was nothing like her.
Perfect body, perfect smile, perfect cherry brown hair and a perfect aura that makes you naturally drawn to her. I was never any of these, maybe that's why my revenge could only happen if I took her body.
My phone suddenly buzzed on the counter, it was a message from Alejandro.
“She's nervous." He wrote, "but she's ready and she comes with a price, meeting tomorrow, I'll send in the scheduled time.
I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding and shook my head.
Dylan deserved this and I would make sure he gets a befitting punishment.
