KILLER WITHIN EPISODE EIGHTEEN

Laura slowly got out of her hiding place with the guy still pointing his gun at her and before she could completely get out, Kelly walked in and shot the guy from behind and he dropped then Laura quickly got out.

She had panicked and her heart was racing almost jumping out of her chest. For a moment she thought she was going to die, just like Lawrence did without finding out any truths.

She held on to her chest as she jumped over the guy and picked his gun instead..

Laura: who is he?

She asked standing beside Kelly who got down to get a clear glance of his face. She looked up at her and shrugged her shoulder then got up and came face to face with Laura..

Kelly: I have never seen him before. Could be a guy sent to eliminate you by the people who knows you know about the virus project.

Laura: come on, let's get out of here before the Police flock this place.

Kelly: no I think we should call the police and let them know you were attacked so that they don't go after you claiming you have killed him.

Laura was scared but she thought that was a good idea so she got her phone, called the police and they both waited for the police to get there though it was getting late.

Laura: how did you know I would be here?

Kelly: I was following you. Like I said previously, I have been following you around to keep you protected from people like this.

Laura: wow, but you took your sweet time to get here. He could have blown my brains to the walls.

Kelly: but he didn't, that counts right?..

She nodded..

Laura: Thanks..

kelly got down and took photos of the dead body. She didnt know who the person was but taking his photo could have help if she at all needed to identify him. Laura left the study room for the living room where she waited nervously for the police to show up....

Martin opened his laptop half an hour after he was done digesting what Remi had told him and checked if there was anything fishy caught on camera given that lexi had not come back yet most of her clothes were in his house. How was she surviving or did she go back to her home? Martin had no idea of Lexi's new apartment though when Ian kept sending him her location, he knew just where that was and it wouldn't be hard to close in on her.

There was nothing on the cctv camera so he closed his laptop and slept on his back but it wasn't a while before his phone rang.

He stared at the display of the caller's name and turned his phone upside down but because the phone called again with the caller insisting to be heard, he picked and put the call on speaker..

Martin: Gloria.

Gloria: hello martin.

Martin: hi.

Be said trying go sit up again.

Gloria: tell me something, is Lexi there with you?

Martin: no. She is not and i think its about time you stop asking about her because she has made it clear that she has nothing to do with me. Lexi killed my sister and stubbed me with a knife and now I can't even find her to ask her where my sisters body is... Do you know somewhere she could hide the body?

Gloria: she killed who, Stella?... Stella was her friend...

Martin: thats what I thought. I want my sister's body found or else...

Gloria: calm down son, you see Lexi has also killed her father's wife after she got into a fight with him the other day. My daughter has lost her mind and I don't know what to do.

Martin: you don't know what to do? Wow! Listen, Lexi doesn't live here infact she will never set foot in my house again. I just want to let you know that the police are looking for her and they have kill orders on her. If you can do anything to find her please do before the police because they will surely put a bullet in her..

Martin didn't wait for Gloria to say anything else, he was upset. He got out of bed and wore his shirt then got his gun from under the pillow and walked to the living room. Remi was setting the table and when she turned and saw Martin by the door she walked up to him and helped him to the chair by the dining.

Remi: I didn't expect you would be up.

Martin: the back hurts when I lie down for too long. Thanks for taking care of me Remi, I owe you.

Remi: you don't owe me anything. I'm doing this because Stella is my friend and if she were here, she would be the one helping out besides you know i am okay with doing this because i care about you...

Martin shifted his focus away from Remi, maybe it was the kiss they shared the other day and why did they even kiss. Remi was slightly older than both Stella and Martin and martin had only seen her as a sister or something. The kiss was unplanned for or maybe, he just wanted to see what would happen between them. Stella had mentioned to him once that Remi was seriously into her but to him he never saw her that way, not even after her saving his life. He was indebted to her but not to an extent that he would want to be in a romantic relationship with her...

Martin: the food looks enticing.

Remi: yeah, my mum taught me well. She also taught me that the way to a man's heart is through his stomach.

Martin looked at her briefly then took the spoon and started eating as Remi went to get him a glass of juice before she could leave to attend to her duties. When she was cooking, she received a call on another attack on Banda's wife and Lexi was causing more damage than they had anticipated but where the hell was she?..

Martin: aren't you having dinner with me?

Remi: not tonight, I have to report to the station and look into the arising matter. I will see you tomorrow but Incase of anything, please call me okay?

She went around him lightly movibg her hand on his back and he looked up at her..

Martin: sure thanks. You know i do appreciate all this. I don't take it for granted that you leave your job and come fo attend to me. I will not forget this..

Remi: believe me, its nothing...

She picked her phone and pistol, held his shoulder, squeezed it gently then walked out leaving him having his dinner.

The police finally showed up at Lawrence's home and found Laura still waiting. She was very nervous and sweaty through she knew there was nothing wrong because she had not killed the man.

The officers checked around collecting a few bullets from the floor as evidence while the other officers took statements from both Kelly and Laura. The officers knew Kelly and it occured to Laura that Kelly was not only a private investigator but an undercover cop too or so she thought..

The officers didn't take much of their time and after they were done with both Kelly and Laura, they let them go as they remained behind collecting the dead body and clearing off the scene..

Banda got home panting and confused as he saw Angela's body lying on the living room floor. She had blood clot in her mouth and her eyes had dried tears that came out before she breathed her last. He panicked for a minute but got down and held her in his arms and cried his heart out. He was shocked that Lexi could really did what she had done. Angela and Banda had a special relationship where Angela had accepted him back after years of disappearing and when he came back and asked her to marry him, he wanted to set a few things straight and she asked him to marry her the right way. Banda started seeing Angela when she was still in high school in her third year. He was that sugar daddy that gave her cash and everything else she wanted. Angie was in high school but she knew how to keep a man and though they kept their love affair a secret for long, Gloria knew but she never knew the girl too well. Angie never looked like a high school student because of her dressing when she was not in school. At school, the teachers knew Banda was Angie's uncle since Angie had lost her father in a greecely road accident and whenever he would show up at school, they would let him see her. This went on until he had to leave for the states with his white woman. Angie dated a number of men but deep inside, she had still hoped he would be back for her and he did come back...

The officers came after a while and questioned Banda and after he told them everything they needed to know, they took the body and left Banda grieving. He didn't know what to do, he didn't even know how he was going to explain to Angie's mother that her daughter had been killed by his own daughter.

Few minutes after Angie's death Lexi made a call to her mother bragging about what she had done. Gloria could not care less about what Lexi choose to do with her life but when she mentioned that she had killed Angie there was a little bit of a concern.

Gloria: what were you thinking?

Lexi: calm down mummy dearest. This news should make you happy. You will not have any competition you know what i am saying?

Gloria: I do not know what you are saying. That was your father's wife and i was okay with that, You want to get us in trouble?

Lexi: the fact that you were okay with that is my problem, you are always okay with everything.. you were okay with my father leaving us and as a result, I lived my life growing up without the love of a father. You were okay with being broke that we had to live in poverty when my father enjoyed a white woman's money.. you are always okay with everything..

Gloria: and you blame me for that?.

Lexi: yes mother, i blame you for everything..

Gloria: i did everything to give you the life you deserved..you had no right to go to your father's house and kill his wife..

Lexi: well i did...and i am not yet done with him. Good bye mummy dearest...

Banda got up from the sofa, lifted the table and threw it to the wall and shouted his lungs out then broke down again....

Martin waited until he knew Remi was far off from his house that was past an hour or something. He got to his car and before he could drive off he texted Laura asking her if she was available to take him somewhere.

Laura: this late?

Martin: I will get you home safe, i promise..i just need to get somewhere right now..

Laura: okay, where are we going?

Martin: for a hunt. I'm asking because I can't drive myself for long and my cop friend has left. She has stiff to attend to.

Laura: it's okay, I will help. You want to pick me up?

Martine: yeah sure..

Martin gave Laura an excuse, not that he couldn't drive himself and not that Remi could not drive him to where he wanted to go but he knew, if he took Remi along, she would kill Lexi without getting explanations yet for him, he needed to know where his sister was before he could put down the demon in her with a bullet. He on the other hand knew Laura would not really ask alot of questions...

He got to his car, drove to Laura's and when he got to some junction very close to her place, he called her and waited for her to show up and a few minutes later she came walking towards his car and he flashed the lights to let her know he was the one..

Martin got out of the driver's seat and they met at the front of the car.

Martin: hey you..

Laura: hey..

She pulled her jacket and crossed her arms to her chest.

Martin: I'm sorry for pulling you out in the cold. Are you okay?

Laura nodded and asked if they could go. She kept checking around to make sure no one was watching them especially Kelly who was ever following her around.

Martin got to the other side of the car and they both got in.

Martin: did i wake you up?..

Laura: no you did not. I was barely asleep.

Martin: you don't mind driving me do you?

Laura: no. I don't mind driving you but I will only do it till you get better. Who are we going to see this late?

Martin: Lexi.

She quickly looked at him like that name triggered something inside of her.

Martin: I know where she is.

Laura couldn't hide the shock in her face. Not that she had come into contact with Lexi but after hearing the things she had done, she was really aftraid of her..

Laura: Lexi, as in the Lexi who stubbed you with a knife?

Martin: yeah. I need to know where she is hiding my sister's body.

Laura: body?

Laura asked surprised..

Martin: she killed her, I don't know her reasons and I don't even know how to handle it. She has been my fiancee and now she is a totally different person..she killed her father's wife too and now the police are looking for her.

Laura: but from theook of things, you don't want her found.

There was a bit of an awkward silence between them as Martin avoided eye contact with her...

Martin: what would you have me do, do I turn her in?

Laura: do not ask me that.

Martin: why not?

Laura: because nothing i say will change your mind from what you want to do..what do you want Martin?

He didn't respond immediately. He took a deep breath and adjusted his seat and lay back then asked Laura to take a left turn from the direction Ian had sent him.

Martin: I want to be free Laura but how?

Laura didn't respond to that. She kept driving.....

Vera called the guy she had sent after Laura to give her feedback but the phone was not being answered. She tried again but there was nothing and when George joined her from the living room, she dropped the phone on the bed and sat on the edge of it cursing and picking the phone again.

George: let me guess, your contact person has gone missing?

Vera: how do you know that?

George got his phone, got to his social media and showed her the news of a guy that had been gunned down inside Lawrence's home.

Vera: s**t!

She shouted knocking her head.

George: you hired a person who couldn't even defend himself, leave along getting the job done, what's the hurry?

She threw him a disgusting look and got up abruptly and started pacing the room...

Vera: I did what I thought could be done and you, what have you done to prevent us from going to jail, you know if the police find out we were involved in Thompson's murder we are going down right, atleast am doing something about it.

George: something that could still land us in jail. Think vera! Killing Laura would definitely turn the heat to us especially now that there's so much murder going on in the same company, who do you think the police are going to question, and what makes you think the police will not go after you given the calls you have been making, the guy is dead and they might connect you to his murder, they might want to know why you are constantly calling him then they will want to know what connection you have to Laura because I'm damn sure she gave a statement.

Vera was quiet probably realizing that what George was saying was true. What if the cops started going after her for the calls she had made and how the hell was she supposed to know he was dead?

Vera sat down on the bed and buried her face in her hands.

Vera: oh God!

George sat next to her and took her hands in his.

George: I'm sorry..

Vera: are you?

She asked looking at him quite upset.

George: yeah, listen... We are going to..

Even before he could finish what he was saying he got a call from a number that was not identified and he received it looking at vera.

"Very well. I'm on my way. I will be there in ten minutes".

With those words he got up and vera got up too.

Vera: where are you going?

George: out. Someone has some important info. It could be a lead.

He kissed her on the forehead and she watched him ran off.

Martin and Laura got go the destination Ian had sent them and when they got go the parking, Laura stopped the car and martin adjusted his seat...

Laura: are you sure there is someone here?

Martin: I have no idea, this is where we are getting the signal of the phone Lexi is using.

Laura: feels like your boy played you.

Martin: Ian would never do that. If he says the phone is here then it has to be here.

Laura: okay, so what next.

He answered that by getting his gun and he started to get out of the car.

Martin: wait here.

Laura: wait!

She said grabbing his arm and he turned and looked at her.

Laura: you don't know what is waiting for you inside there. I'm not waiting in the car. I'm coming with you.

Martin: I promised you would get back home safe, I won't be able to keep that promise if something happens to you in there.

Laura: and you won't get me home safe if something happens to you inside there as well. I'm better off by your side and i am not asking..

Martin: you know what you are, stubborn!

Laura: yeah.. I'm glad you know that..

They both got out and slowly walked towards the direction of the deserted house..

Fifteen minutes later, George hurried towards a car, got in and came face to face with Kelly..

George: what do you have?

Kelly: Laura still doesn't know where the virus is. She bought my story so she can't suspect me.. besides that..I saved her life and I will use that against her..I will make her trust me then we will eventually know what she knows.

George: good. Keep following her.

Kelly: she is getting involved with someone else we should keep an eye on.

She pulled her phone from the pocket and showed him a photo she had taken of Laura and Martin just a few minutes ago. She saw Laura and Martin talk in front of he car and also saw them get inside the car and drive off

George: Martin?

Sounding so surprised...

Kelly: you know him?

George: Damn!...
