Later that evening, Ken arrived at Aliyah’s boarding house, looking a little awkward.
Ken: “Hey… can I talk to you for a second? About Luke?”
Aliyah raised an eyebrow.
Aliyah: “About Luke? What about him?”
Ken: “That night… the one you thought he was with someone else? He wasn’t hiding anything. It was all a misunderstanding.”
Aliyah blinked.
Aliyah: “What do you mean?”
Ken: “The girl you saw in the group? She’s his high school friend. They were just drinking with everyone, nothing more. He didn’t tell you because he didn’t think it was a big deal, not because he wanted to cheat.”
Aliyah’s heart started to calm.
Aliyah: “So… he wasn’t lying?”
Ken: “Nope. He just… wasn’t thinking. That’s all.”
Aliyah nodded slowly.
Aliyah (to herself): *Maybe I overreacted…*

By the end of November 2024, Aliyah and Luke had officially gone separate ways.
Aliyah kept herself busy, focusing on school and friends.
Luke tried to distract himself too, but he couldn’t stop thinking about her.
Even though they were broken up, Aliyah still surprised him on his birthday in November.
Aliyah: “Happy birthday, Luke.”
Luke: “Thanks… but we’re not lovers anymore.”
Giving a hint to Aliyah that he wanted her back.
Aliyah (smiling): “I know. I just… didn’t want to miss it.”
Luke didn’t reply, but inside, he felt a pang of something he couldn’t name.
And so, for the first time in months, they realized…
Even though they weren’t together, their story wasn’t completely over.
Something was still there.
