Needless to say, I’m shocked he would never offer help to me with something like this “You will?” “Yes, it is clear you are unhappy here Amara. I want you to be happy and have the life you want even if Melody and I are not part of it.” He started to tear up, I pulled him into my embrace “Derek, you always have been part of my life and will. Who else is going to annoy me, besides you have pups on the way no way I’m missing this” 

We split from the hug, the bell to let us know that it is time for supper. “Come on sis one last meal before you become an ordinary wolf” I laughed at his statement. If I am honest I’m excited about leaving the palace. “Derek, if I’m honest I’m quite excited to be a regular girl. No duties as a princess, no dresses, no tiara. Just an average girl.” Derek laughed "Amara, you are aware your name is known in our village and the next village over." He has a point if I'm honest, but the scent I picked up during my hunt was unknown to me. 

"Honestly Derek, the scent I had when my mate was near was not from our kingdom." He seemed shocked. We started to make out way into the palace  "So do you think they might be a rouge trespassing into our territory or just passing through." thinking about it I don't know. I didn't know the scent that's for sure "I don't know Derek, I didn't even know if it was a wolf scent or human, it was masked" he looked concerned and confused "But how can that be. No one has ever been able to mask their scent. Ever since our existence was discovered by mundanes they have never been able to find a way to mask their scent." 

We arrived at the dining room's main doors "Derek, I think they might be finding ways to cover their backs. or maybe they think we are dangerous and wish to protect themselves." he seemed to of considered it as a possibility.  we sat down at our usual seats. Father approached the table and sat down. He seemed like he wanted to get something off his chest and that is just what he did. He looked directly at me as I made strong eye contact.

"Amara, since you have transformed for the first time you seem more aggressive and acting as an alpha" okay let's see where he wants this to go. "Why yes father probably because I am an alpha. And the aggression is to you alone." yep he did not like that. "Well, I would like for you to stop this behavior. You are a princess and this is not how one should act." I could sense Dereks anger "Father, must you talk to her as if she was a child. Nothing she does is right by you or by the royal code. Why can you not accept you can not control everything and everyone around you." 

And no father is pissed "Also her behavior is because of you, you enforce royal protocol on your daughter more than you do with me or mother." Father looked extremely mad "I have you know your mother was treated the same by my father when we were first started courting. He had high expectations for your mother as she was the Luna for my pack and due to be the queen of our kingdom." we looked at mother thinking it was a lie "Your father is right my dear children. But your grandfather hated me because I was like Amara." Mother smiled at me I could not hold back the smile. She turned looked at father with a serious look "I wanted to do things my way. Without someone lurking on my shoulder, having such high expectations to the point of not wanting to be royalty anymore. Who made me leave the palace again and not return for months while pregnant with Derek." The room went silent. Father was just looking down at his lap "You all may be excused" 

Derek and I looked at each other concerned but followed his orders. Derek helped Melody up, we all made our way to our rooms "Derek, I have to go now" Melody looked confused. "Go? go where?" I had no intention of leaving without informing Melody and saying goodbye. It would have stressed her and the baby. "I'm leaving the palace to find my mate. The scent may have been masked but what they used was a flower called wolfsbane. The books state it is mostly grown in the next village over. They have not been on the map in centuries" "why?" "well, according to the books I read when I was younger" "The one's father said not to read" the books was filled with knowledge from centuries ago including wolfsbane and anything that could kill a wolf or leave it permanently injured.

"Yes Derek those, the village was removed from the map so wolves knew not to go near it so they can keep packs safe. So I need to go there and find them.” Melody and Derek looked at each other then back to me.  “When have you got to leave? And how?” “Jumping the wall and now I have a bag I packed just before I transformed.” needless to say I enjoy their speechlessness. 

So when do I finally take the wheel? It’s been a while princess, let me drive for once. And where have you been? What I’m not allowed to just snoop and shut up once in a while? YOU HAVE BEEN SNOOPING? Yeh don’t you? Well…….I. And that's what I thought. Oh shut up and you get to drive the wheel as you put it. YECK YES, THIS IS GONNA BE AWESOME. What have I done?

Melody hugged me “ Goodbye Amara I am going to miss you. Send me a letter when you get to where ever you are going” I could tell she started to cry. “Melody please don’t cry” We separated from the hug. Derek smiled “I do not do hugs” Derek typical of the little wimp. It's time Amara. Okay. 

“I have to go my wolf says so.” they knew what I meant, for at least joke my brother bowed and Melody followed his lead “farewell princess Amara” “Very funny, see you both soon” I ran to my room to grab the bag. Once I reached my room I opened the door and ran, headed straight to my closet. Moving everything around to look for the bag I spotted it.

I checked to see if everything I needed was in there. Yep perfect, I ran out of my room making sure the coast was clear. Derek stopped me pushing me up against the wall. “What are you?” he put his finger to his mouth telling me to shush. “You should not have told the children that.” Father. Is he scolding his mother? Derek look at me “The guard has been requested to my room to tend to Melody we made it sound urgent” perfect. We could have used him in the hunt. Fair point.

We stood still as the guard approached us “Prince, you requested me” the guard saluted and stood tall “Yes I believe something is wrong with my mate. I was informed that you have pups and know what might be happening” the guard looked shocked “Yes sir what do you need?” “Follow me please” the guard nodded. He looked at me slightly bowing his head. I smiled at him. Derek gave me the signal, so I started to rush to the garden. I quickly climbed over the fence, making my way to the middle of the forest my wolf decided to make herself known.

Finally, come on let me take over. Shush wolf I need to make sure no one is around. No one is just shut up and remove that stupid clothing. It is my time to shine. Okay. Okay. Can’t believe I’m doing this. I started to remove all my clothing Hehehehe. Gross. Do I have to remove everything? Do you want to tare your underwear? No, I guess no. Then off they come princess. Do not call me that. I quickly removed my underwear. I put my dress and underwear in the bag and just stood still. standing in the middle of a dark cold forest. 

When are you planning on “taking over” you wanted to take over for a while? Careful what you wish for. Wish for? I must have blacked out I did not realize I transformed. Ready? well, guess what I don’t care time to go. We charged towards the wall it was perfectly times we jumped and landed over the wall. We looked back one last time and saw Derek and Melody in the window. Too late to turn back now. Are you ready? I’m ready as I’ll ever be, we ran into the woods till the palace disappeared and was a distant memory.
