I WILL BE YOUR FRIEND

996 Words
Robert (Christine’s Father) When Christine told me what happened I was proud of her but at the same time she made me worried, if she is like this to strangers, how much more to people who are close to her, my daughter is an amazing person, she is beautiful inside and out. The doctor came while she was sleeping to check on her progress, and said to me that there is a young boy outside this room who is always looking at this room, and maybe we know who that boy is. I said to the doctor that it might be my daughter’s friend. I thought it would be Daryl, he does not have a gut to come inside because he is still blaming himself for what happened to her, but to my surprise it is someone else. I remember how my daughter described a boy that she followed, and this boy and her description are perfectly fitted. He looked scared, I felt bad for him and went towards him. I sat beside him and asked him “where are your parents?” “Dead” is the only answer that I got from the boy, he looks like he hasn’t eaten anything. “Do you want to grab something, come on” I told him, he looked hesitant at first but he gave in, we went to the cafeteria and while eating he looked at the food then he looked at me. I could feel that he wanted to say something, but he did not utter a word. He kept on staring at his food and said the words that I am waiting for. “I am the reason why she is in the hospital; I am the reason why she encounters an accident” how could a child blame himself for something that happened that no one wants to happen. I looked outside the window and I saw how gloomy the weather was. I saw the birds are becoming restless. I think there will be heavy rain. “I know what happened to my daughter and it is not your fault, no one is blaming you, so you should stop blaming yourself, you are sitting outside that room for two days straight, I know you are beating yourself for what happened, but I know my daughter more than anyone, I know my daughter will save someone even that someone brought her pain, you are a stranger to her but she still save you, it only means that she saw something from you, and I hope you can see it someday, eat you food and afterwards I will bring you to her room, you know you can talk to her, right? She is not blaming you for what happened, it is the other way around, and she wants to look for you.” A couple of hours have passed and the two are walking towards Christine’s room Unknown POV While her father and I are walking, I can’t describe how nervous I am, now her father and I stop in front of her room, I know that she is not blaming me, but she should, I can’t utter a word to her father now that we are outside her room, her father look at me then he finally open the door and let me in. When I stepped inside her room I saw her sleeping. She looked peaceful, when you look at her face you will think that she is an angel, that she will not harm anyone, I want to leave, I have nowhere to go but I do not want her to see me like this. But she stirs and opens her eyes, and her eyes meet mine. I don’t have the proper words to describe how grateful I was, I do not have anything to give her, heck I do not even have the money to buy my own food, what could possibly be a grade-schooler can give to her. We stared at each other’s eyes until she decided to break the silence that is lingering in her room. “hi” her first word to me, I looked at her then the floor and said, “hi” to her. She smiled and patted her bed, signaling me to sit beside her. Her father went outside to fetch her mom, because I overheard that she cooked her favorite soup. I sat beside her not knowing what to say, for the first time in my life, someone did not utter a single insult the first time that they saw me. What is your name? She asked me, “Daniel” I said to her in a whisper tone, “well Daniel I am Christine and it is nice to meet you” she said to me. She looked at me with her round eyes and smiled, I can’t help but return her smile. She is sweet and cheerful. I can say that, because of the way she speaks to me and the way she approaches me. We talked for a couple of hours until her parents arrived and fed her, I saw how her family take care of her, I hope my father will take care of me like that Candy POV I saw the young boy that Christine saved and I am glad that he looks fine, but his eyes held hopelessness. At a very young age the children’s eyes should glitter with happiness. My husband told me that he saw this boy outside Christine’s room and he looked so thin, like he hasn’t eaten in days; my heart aches for this boy, every kid should enjoy their lives as a kid, because it will not last forever. I saw how he looked at my family. I wish I could talk to him more, and I decided something. I whispered to Christine what was on my mind and she nodded her head immediately, I also asked my husband to assist me.
