HUSBAND AND WIFE TALK

Christine was in a stage of shock maybe she misheard him, so she was just staring at him and waiting for him to tell her that it is just a joke, but minutes have passed and yet Daryl is not showing any sign that he was just messing around, so he must be serious Christine thought to herself. She wants to ask him a lot of questions. They are separated for five years, a lot of things changed but her love for him did not, and yet she is unsure if Daryl really meant the words that he said. Marriage is a big thing, it is a responsibility, you will no longer be alone because you are with someone, you will be one. She was just staring at him, Daryl exhaled and said “Christine, marry me. I know what you are thinking, you must be thinking that I am joking, but Christine I am not, I am serious and I know that this is the decision that I will never regret” he held Christine’s han and said in his sweetest voice that he could muster “so please marry me” he look on her eyes like he knows everything about her. The tears fell down on her face and she was a crying mess and she finally said the word that he is waiting for “yes” the two of them hugged each other and she said to him. “Daryl are you sure that we should get married, we are still young and we will face a lot of obstacles together, I just want to make sure that you did not propose to me because it is a spur of a moment, you know that I love you but I just want to really hear it from you” while hugging her he smiles at her and kissed her forehead“of course I am sure” and he tighten his hug to her.

Hours have passed and her parents went home, at first they both are surprised to see Daryl there, when they all know that he is in the United States to study, but the husband and wife did not even ask him what he is doing there and why both of their faces have a trace of tears. Instead what they did is hugged Daryl and asked how he is doing, the husband and wife do not have any idea what happened and what Daryl’s mother's job is, they only know a few things like his father has a disease, a Cancer. Cancer is not a joke, everyone knows that when you have cancer it is like you are living in a shell any minute you can die, the treatment is expensive also the doctor’s fee and the medication of the patient is also expensive. They ate and sat together, like a real family, since Daryl and Christine grew up together . Daryl is like their own son, besides the husband and wife also knows what type of relationship the two have.

The two look at each other, they want to get married, yes, but they do not know how to tell her parents and most especially Daryl did not ask for Roberrt’s daughter's hand. He proposes to Christine without his father’s permission, yes he will not marry Robert but it is a courtesy to ask your future father in law or simply to inform him about your intentions to his daughter. He loves Christine with all his heart, he is willing to sacrifice himself, but nothing can describe how much a father loves his daughter.

He took a deep breath and calmed himself and he suddenly said “Christine and I will get married” . He said it with conviction and everyone on the table stopped talking and looked at him. What he said surprised everyone except Christine herself, oyes he loves him but he said it abruptly to her parents, and she was not mentally prepared for it. She loves her without a doubt but she grew up as a Daddy’s girl her father knows everything about her, even if she has an headache her father will be the one who will give her medicines, if she was experiencing menstruation cramps her father was the one who is taking care of her, if her sanitary pads are all used and she needs a new one but she is not feeling well to stand up and buy a new one, her father will be the one who will bought it for her. He is her everything and she is also her everything, she stopped for a second and looked at her parents. Their faces are shocked, they both are. They do not know what expression they should give, marriage is not a joke it is not a rice. When it is hot you can spit it out, once you are married you are forever committed to your partner.

Robert Christine’s father took a deep breath and said in a shaky voice, “we should eat first, we will talk about this after our dinner” after what Robert said they ate their dinner in silence.

After dinner Christine was nervous, anyone can see plaster on her face, she was fidgeting but Daryl remained calm. Meanwhile Robert and Candice are talking inside the kitchen, they are both whispering but everyone knows what they are talking about..

“Don’t you think that they are still young in order to get married?” Candice, Christine’s mother said to her husband.” Wife: I know that, but do you think we can change their minds? It is her decision to make, and she already made one. Her decision might not be appropriate for us because she is our only daughter but we have to respect it” he answered his wife with a sad smile on his face

Christine’s mother Candice started to cry at her husband and said to him “I am sorry, it is my fault, because I am having a hard time to conceive a baby that is why we only have one child, after knowing everything you did not leave me instead you stayed by my side and comforted me, I am beyond blessed to have you Robert as my husband, but what should we do? I kept on thinking that we will lose our daughter if we let her get married to him. You know the fact that I do not care that we have more money than his parents and we can even provide them a grand wedding if they want to, but he is trying to steal our baby girl away from us” Robert just hugged his wife and comforted her, yes they are having a bad time during their youth because Candice, Christine’s mother thought that she was infertile she friend and cried during that time until her eyes become puffy. Until one day she was so sick and can’t go to work, she used to work on a office and she loves her work but when she was nauseous and keeps on vomiting, she went on a clinic and the doctor happily told her that she is pregnant, at first she could not believe what she heard afterall she knows that she is infertile. After her appointment she went to a nearby drug store to buy a pregnancy test and she went home. The moment she opened the door Robert was there looking a little panicked because when he went home his wife was not in their house, he asked for an early out in order to take care of his wife, “Wife where did you go?” but she did not answer him. Instead she went to their second floor and opened the bathroom door and peed on the pregnancy test, after a couple of minutes the result was out and it was two lines, it simply means that she is indeed pregnant. Robert was worried sick about his wife most especially she did not talk to him, she run upstairs and lock their bathroom door, he was knocking on the door when Candice opened the door in haste and gave him the pregnancy test, he took it and look at the two straight lines in it, the confusion is evident on face. “ Wife, I do not know what this means, and what is the purpose of this stick?” she was dumbfounded she do not know what to do, if she want to smack her head or just hugged him, but in the end she chose to hygge him, and when she did, he was the one who is dumbfounded by her action “amm okay so we are hugging now” he hugged her back and asked her “is there something wrong my wife?”she looked at him with her teary eyes and said in between sobs, “you know for someone who is hardworking and loving husband you are quite dumb” and smiled ear to ear she was so happy and when Robert is just staring at her debating his inner thoughts whether he should go to hospital or just ask his wife to sleep maybe she experienced fever and this is the side effect. She smack his head and said “ Stupid, I am pregnant you i***t” you can clearly hear the enthusiam on her voice, and that was the time when the two of them was jumping with joy.

After a day they visit a hospital and the doctors take Candice blood sample in order to know if she is really pregnant, and when the result is out she is indeed pregnant, but they asked the doctor for a consult.

They started to explain that when they had a consultation with the other hospital and a doctor, the test result is that she is infertile, the doctor listened to them attentively and started to say “Ma’am Candice you are not infertile, I can assure you that. Besides, the proof itself is already inside you ma’am” the husband and wife are crying a mess inside the doctor’s office, the doctor just let them cry their heart out. After a couple of minutes the husband and wife realized what they did inside the office and they felt ashamed. They are not crying because they feel sad they cried because of happiness. It feels like they are on cloud nine, it feels like everything is possible and they are already complete.
