The One for The Job

915 Words
MARIUS' POV Everything about her gave way for suspicions. Where had she been found? I sniffed in her scent and I felt safety. Something about her struck me and instinctively, I knew she would be the one to do the job. “I found her.” I spoke and my lips curved into a smile. My Beta looked quite shocked as he stared at me, probably wondering what I was saying or doing. Truly, it made no sense to me initially. The lady stared at me wide eyed, wondering what was going through my mind. “My Alpha… can I see you for a split second?” Roland, my Beta questioned and I moved away from the lady. I however had my eyes on her so she would not escape. “Do you mean…..” “Yes.” I responded briskly. “She is strong willed and resilient. She is the type of Luna they would want.” “You do not even know this woman. You do not know who she is. What if she is a spy? What if she tries to….” “I know everything about her. “ I responded and he arched his brows. “I know she is Owen’s mate who ran away after she was accused of murder.” I could see the surprise and shock in his eyes. Of course, that was the reaction I expected every time he heard something he did not know I knew about. “Murder? My Lord, I…” “I have everything under control.” I responded immediately and he stepped away from me. With a smile, I walked back to the lady, staring at me with surprise as though she had seen a ghost. “Marry me.” I proposed. The shock in her eyes heightened as she moved a little away from me. Well, I didn’t mean for it to come out as bland a I had said it. “You have to be my Luna. It is however… for a little while. A couple of months maybe and in return, I will give you the answer you so desire…. Finding out who killed his mother.” I spoke and her eyes lit up. She understood what and who I meant when I said 'his'. “How…How do you know about that?” She probed and I chuckled. “Raven Pierce, I know everything about you. That is however not important now. Concerning my deal, what do you say?” I crossed my hands behind me immediately. “And if I choose not to?” She probed further, uncertainty and confusion evident in her eyes. “What if I choose to not be your bride?” “It’s simple. I turn you in to the guards of your pack who are searching everywhere for you. I hand you over to them and they kill you. There is no where to run to and no one would give you the offer I am offering you this minute.” I spoke. My Beta on the other hand watched us both in surprise. He probably didn’t know what to say as he looked so confused. “What do I have to do?” She questioned and I smiled. Of course, she was one hell of a good girl. If only she knew she was just a pawn in my game. To fight the real enemy and get the justice I so deserve. I was going to make them all pay for what they did to me. “Nothing much. You just have to appear before the elders this evening and in two days, you appear to the whole pack as the Luna. You are not to tell anyone anything otherwise you will get in trouble for it. Once the agreement is over, you would be given the chance to go wherever you want with enough money to establish yourself and start a life.” I informed her. She crossed her hands and lowered her head. “I…. I don’t have to perform wifely duty to you, I mean……” “of course not.” I cut her short immediately. “You are only going to deceive the pack. You are not my woman.” I explained to her and she nodded. After coming to an agreement, I got some maids to bath her and give her a change of cloth. “I do not think this is a good idea, my Lord. I do not know how you got to know but.. you said she was accused of murder. There is an iota of truth in every lie. If she was accused of murder, then she must have done something to instigate her. I fear this woman would bring us lot of trouble.” He responded and I chuckled. “Three years and you still do not know a bit of me.” I grabbed a book in my study. “I do not make any decision without thinking it through and well as it’s consequences. Her presence would instead, give us the satisfaction we need. She is the one I need to carry out my plans. My revenge on her so called mate and his family. She is just a pawn in my game. I have everything under control.” I explained to him and he nodded, even though he was not so convinced. Strategic thinking was my forte and no plans of mine have ever failed. it won’t start now.
