RAVEN'S POV
The Alpha’s secret was out!
Shocked. Surprised. Lost for words.
I tried to think of a suitable word to describe how I felt but…. None stuck. Alpha Ronnie’s eyes met with mine and just like I was charmed, I could not take my eyes off him.
“I am sorry, my Lord. I did….. I did…. I have to leave.” I shut the door immediately, my heart racing so hard like it would pop out of my chest.
I stayed still, completely silent for a while as I tried to process what I had just saw. The Alpha? How was that even possible?
That instant, I forgot the initial purpose why I had come there. I forgot the reason why I jumped through the wall even when I knew it was risky and I could get in trouble for it but things we do for love, aye?
Maybe not. I didn’t forget. I just could not bring myself to look at Owen after the disgusting sight I had seen. I walked. No, I ran, trying so hard to hasten my step and not getting to hear the guards or the Alpha himself call out to me.
I tried to steady my heart but I failed. Owen….. what was I going to do about him?
I suddenly stumbled and almost fell save for the large set of hands that grabbed me by my waist. My life flashed right in front of my eyes.
“Where are you heading to, beautiful? That too, without seeing me?”
My lips curved into a smile as Owen chuckled and helped me up.
“What do you think you are doing?” I probed immediately, trying to hide my nervousness and shock.
Not only did I not expect to see him, I didn’t expect him at that time and my heart began to race again.
“What if someone had seen us? What would you have said?” I pretended to wipe off my dress even though there was nothing there. I just could not bring myself to look him in the eyes.
“Well…” He pulled me really close, closing the gap between us and releasing a gasp from my mouth. “it is just a matter of time before everyone gets to know and accept you as the Luna. My coronation ceremony is in two days and Father will have no choice but to accept whoever I bring.”
Hearing him speak about his father, the Alpha made my heart skip and I hurriedly unfolded myself from his grip.
“Is something wrong?” He probed and tried to touch me but I withdrew.
“I am just nervous. I mean…. What if no one accepts us? I am just an orphan. An Omega with no one. No home, no family…. I mean, those people do not count as family. I am all alone and my father does not belong to an high rank like the others. I fear…”
“No one would do anything. By the way, why were you leaving without seeing me? You couldn’t wait for me in the store house like always?” He questioned.
“I…. I… you….. “ I tried to think of something to come up with. Anything but the truth. “Well, I did wait. I waited for a couple of minutes and when I didn’t see you, I felt you were busy and I wanted to leave as soon as possible so I do not get caught.” I lied.
“I was supposed to be there but Father asked me to sort some things out and …. I had to. It was too important, considering my coronation in two days. I am sorry.”
Hearing him speak about his father got me even more nervous and I knew spending one more minute with him would make me want to spill everything. No. My life would be at risk.
“I have to go. I have some things to tend to. We will meet tomorrow.” I spoke and before he could say a word, I ran as fast as I could, to my home, if it could count as one.
I mean… I lost my father and mother at a very young age and my aunt whom I was staying with, made it a priority to remind me of how useless I was and how I should have died in place of my mother and father.
“You haven’t cleaned the dishes.” Saucy Susan’s voice brought me back to life and I let out a sigh.
Of course, a spoilt brat that always wanted me to do everything and guess what? I cannot protest because her mother, who is my aunt, is going to force me to do it anyway.
“I will do that as soon as possible.” I hastened my steps because one slow stride and she is going to whine about everything I was supposed or not supposed to do.
We were of the same age yet she never acted like it. One would doubt we were the same age.
Just as I was about to walk into my room and lay on my bed, fantasizing on how beautiful Owen would look during coronation, sour displeasure registered on my face almost immediately, yanking off the excitement I initially felt.
No one would accept me. No one would accept an orphan Omega as their Luna. No one even knew who my parents are. I barely knew them.
All I knew was my aunt and her husband broke the news of my parents' demise and we moved to start a new life in another pack because according to them, we were not safe back there.
“Get the door, you dimwit!” Susan yelled from her room and with a deep frown etched on my face, I dragged myself to the door. Who could come visiting at that time of the evening? Of course, we barely had guests, how much more, in the night?
My heart skipped two beats immediately I opened the door as the Alpha’s guards were right in front of the door. From their expression, I knew something was wrong.
“Raven Pierce… we have the royal decree to arrest you for theft…. And murder.”
