I turn back to the pond and drag my fingers through the comforting water. Peace unlike anything I’ve ever felt before, settles over me and soothes my soul.
Without thinking much of it, I kick my shoes off, strip down to my underwear, and walk into the shallow pond. I can’t swim, but the water isn’t very deep. Even in the middle of the pond, it only reaches up to my thighs.
I sigh and submerge myself up to my neck. That feeling of complete peace engulfs me, makes me drowsy. I could sleep where I am, just floating on the warm water with the sun warming me from above.
“Queen!” Elias calls out. “I beg you. Get out. I’m telling you, this place is dangerous.”
