Chapter 18

1821 Words
Sunday June 8th CREW POV I left my car where it was and shifted into my wolf, I sprinted towards the beach house, to my little luna. My mind was foggy, I didn’t know what I was going to say to her. Should I tell her the truth? Should I break alpha protocol and tell her about pack plans and decisions that had been sworn to secrecy? Should I tell her that I am to be married to another woman next weekend? Should I ask her to reject me and to find someone worthy of her kindness and beauty? I had no idea what I was going to say, or do. I just knew I had to see her, to be near her, whilst I still had the chance. COLE POV Crew left me standing in his room alone. I sighed heavily. What were we going to do? The last time I spoke to Blue I told her we were going to reject her. I left her in pieces, alone in my room. I hadn’t once checked in on her, apologised, explained or asked her if she was OK. Of course she wasn’t OK, none of us were OK, but at least me and Crew knew what was happening, she didn’t, she must be so confused. I pulled my phone out and reread her text message. It made my heart ache. My wolf paced frantically within me. Maybe I should go and see her. I could bend the truth to help her understand better and to reassure her that it isn’t her fault. Would that make the situation worse? ‘How could anything make this situation worse’? My wolf snarled at me. He had a point. This wedding was speeding towards us like a runaway train. We couldn’t stop it, we could only try to reduce casualties and ensure it makes it to it’s final destination with no issues. I needed to apologise to Blue, to explain without breaking protocol. I clicked on the ‘find my phone app’ which I had secretly connected to the new phone we had bought her, and clicked ‘B’. To my surprise, a small red dot flashed up somewhere I was not expecting. Our summer beach house. How strange. What was Blue doing there? I headed downstairs and jumped into my car. I was going to find out. CARA POV Crew had left the room hastily. I almost didn’t have time to slip into the archway further up the hallway and avoid being seen. He ran towards the elevator and out of the pack house. He said he was going for a run. I wasn’t too concerned. Crew often went for runs around our borders. He was a strong warrior and took security very seriously. I assumed that he was frustrated with father and was letting off steam. Cole, however, was a different story. He had spoken out against father for the first time ever today and that was very out of character. Now I had found out that my brothers had found their fated mate and that this was obviously why he had been questioning our father's decision. I needed to know who it was, I needed to make sure my future as Luna was not in jeopardy and I believed that Cole would lead me to where I needed to go. I waited in the archway until he left Crew’s room. He jogged down the hallway to the elevator and I followed him from a safe distance. He gets into his car and speeds off. Where is he off to? I decided the safest way to follow him and not be seen is by shifting. I head into the woodland at the edge of the pack house gardens and shift into my wolf form. My wolf is a dark brown with a light brown stripe down her face, she blends effortlessly into the trees as we sprint curiously after my brothers' scent. BLUE POV The beach is beautiful. It is private, and in the shape of a large crescent moon. No one can enter it unless they come down the private road to the beach house. The sand is white and the sea is crystal clear. My toes contract and squeeze the warm sand beneath them. I am wearing nothing but Crew’s Tshirt and a pair of Coles boxer shorts that I found in his room. I don’t know why I put them on, I just had the urge to feel closer to them both. There is a light breeze blowing out to sea. It pulls my hair across my shoulders and whips my face gently. I sit on the sand and inhale the fresh air deeply. This is just what I needed; some peace and quiet, some alone time, some space to think. I caress the sand between my fingers as I gaze out at the horizon. What I wouldn’t give for my mind to be as calm as the endless sea before me. CREW POV I arrived at the beach house in record time. I don’t even bother to take the footpath or use the gate. I scale the fence in one leap and shift back to human form before sliding the glass doors open. I notice Blue’s phone on the kitchen countertop and shouted her name expecting her to appear from somewhere nearby. Silence. I inhale and notice her scent isn’t as strong as usual. I head upstairs and find the bedrooms empty. Strange. The room still smells of our early morning encounter. I smiled to myself. I pull on some grey joggers and a black skinny fit tshirt and step out onto the balcony. I look out at the endless horizon in front of me, and there she is. Sat on the beach under the warming sun, my beautiful mate. She looked tinier than usual, a black dot in a vast desert of golden sands. I race back downstairs, grab a blanket from the cupboard and run to where she is sitting. The wind is gentle, but it blows in her direction, and before I am even half way there, she turns to see me. Her little face lights up, and my insides literally flip with happiness at the sight of her smile. The Goddess Luna herself could not compare to the beauty of my mate. She was perfect. Without a word, I rolled out the blanket, sat myself down on it, and gestured for her to shuffle over to be by my side. Her smile widens and, without hesitation, she joins me and falls into my arms. BLUE POV My eyes were closed, and the sun was warming my face as I tried to empty my mind of the endless thoughts and questions racing through my head. That’s when I sensed him. Before the scent even hit me, I had sensed he was there. Crew. I turned to see him running towards me. He was like something from Baywatch. His shirt was so tight it looked like it had been painted on. Every perfect muscle was on show, he may aswel have been topless. The outline of his large bulge could be seen through his joggers. Perfection. I rolled out a blanket next to me, and I happily joined him as we silently gazed out to sea. COLE POV I pulled up at the side of our summer beach house and cut the engine. I entered through the side gate and slid the door to the kitchen open. I could see Blue’s phone on the kitchen counter. She was here. Why? I sniffed the air and my wolf growled. I went upstairs and found the reason for his dismay. I could smell our mate. I could smell her arousal. Whatsmore, I could smell my arousal, but I hadn’t been here. There was only one conclusion. Crew. That sneaky little fu*ker. He had been here with our mate, he had gone behind my back and, worse, he had deviated from our plan and was putting our entire pack at risk. I was livid. I stepped out onto the balcony and thats when I spotted them. I sighed. I attempted to calm myself before I made my way over to them. I didn’t wan’t to scare my little mate any more than I already had. But I had to make it clear to Crew that he was playing on thin ice, and sooner or later it was going to break. I took a deep breath and set out to the beach. CARA POV I waited in a wooded area a hundred yards away from the beach house. The ground was elevated above the house and I had seen him enter through the kitchen door. What was Cole doing here? Now wasn’t the time for a summer vacation! I left it a few minutes to see what he would do. He strolled out onto the balcony, and then disappeared back into the house before reemerging in the garden and headed towards the beach. I looked in the direction he was heading and saw two people sitting on the beach in the distance. One looked like Crew, and the other was a woman. Their mate!!!!! I couldn’t risk my scent being picked up on the windy beach, so I snuck into the house once he was far enough away, and went to investigate. There was a phone on the countertop. It was locked with a passcode and no photo on the screen. Weird. I could smell arousal emanating from upstairs. My fears were confirmed. They were sleeping with their fated mate. They were going to ruin everything. The weddings would be called off, the leaders of the other packs would declare us traitors and liars, the rogues would descend upon our lands, and our pack would be eliminated. I would lose my throne, my power, my title, and everything that had been promised to me. I couldn’t let that happen. I saw a bag on a chair by the kitchen counter. I opened it up. There were nice clothes, some books, make-up, and a letter. I read it, it made no sense to me. I took a photo of it, incase I needed it later on. And then I saw it. My blood ran cold. Between the books was a sketch pad. I pulled it out, and opened it. Bile rose in my throat. Please no. Anyone but her. I knew who their mate was now. How could this be? Well, one thing was certain. I would feel no guilt getting rid of gold digging Poverty. That basic bit*h would not be the one to stop me ascending my throne. Her pathetic life wasn’t worth living, I’d be doing her a favour, she’d be better off dead. I left the house, shifted back to my wolf form and headed back to the pack house. I needed to call in a favour.
