The highway was empty—thank God. With no other cars around, I could focus on driving. Yet my contractions were getting worse. And I had no idea where I was going. Then, my phone rang in the passenger seat. I gripped the wheel tightly, stretching my free hand to grab it. Finally, I answered. A voice I didn't recognize spoke calmly, "Miss, you need to stay calm and listen carefully." I gasped, trying to breathe through the pain. "I—I'm in labor!" "Labor?" The voice tensed.
