The iron restraints snap tighter into place. The iron bars hum faintly as if reacting to the same energy that flows through my hands, and Lucian’s expression flickers from amusement to calculation when he realizes he cannot overpower them. “He can’t get out,” one of the guards says through clenched teeth, and for the first time since we reached the dungeon I feel a flicker of relief. The red glow in my palms dims slightly, but it does not disappear. I step back from the cell slowly, because even though Lucian is restrained there is something in his eyes that tells me this is far from over. “This isn’t just about him,” I say quietly, and Axel nods because he knows it too.
