Chapter Eight The night was spent in misery. She stopped tugging at her confines quickly. There was no way she was going to get free. And what if she did? What would she do then? She would just be punished again for being disobedient. She could run away. But where was she to go? She didn’t know anyone who would take her in and not eventually betray her to her parents. She wouldn’t dare tell anyone what had happened tonight. It was too shameful. She had no money so she couldn’t get on a bus or a train and go somewhere.
