Chapter Nine
As soon as they got home, Maureen’s mother undressed her then bound her up again and made her lie on her back on the bed. Her father came in and gave her the ten strokes of the tawse that Pastor Jackson had proscribed. She wailed and cried and squirmed on the bed as her father belabored her thighs, her belly and her breasts. She was still sobbing when her mother came in with a bowl of hot water, some shaving cream, some scissors and a razor. She made her spread her legs and lift her ass as she pushed a pillow under the small of her back.
