I heard Selena clearly. She was threatening Aria, saying she’d kill her if she didn’t explain why she ran away. Aria looked so frightened, her eyes wide, almost as if she was trying to hold back tears. I could see it – the fear was all over her face. And just then, Selena turned and saw me standing there.
Her tough expression faded in an instant, like she’d been caught in the middle of something she knew she shouldn’t be doing. “I… I didn’t see you, Alpha,” she stammered, her voice shaky. She was fumbling, trying to find the right words to get herself out of trouble, but I didn’t let her finish.
