(Giulia’s POV)
My heart was beating, my stomach tightened and it seemed someone had snuffed the air from the atmosphere.
“Giulia, I know what you're thinking. But this is not what it looks like.”
“What the f**k are you saying”? I enquired. He must have lost his damn mind obviously.
“I have tried to tell you about this–this part of me. Especially when you told me you are not ready for s*x. Damn it Giulia, I have needs.”
I stared at the gardener. Trying so hard to contain the fury stirring up inside me. He got the cue, grabbed his tools and fled.
“Are you saying this is all my fault?” My vision blurred with tears.
“Amore mio, all I'm saying is I have needs.” A smile tugged at his lips as he shamelessly said that.
“You told me he was only your gardener, while he is more than that. You lied to me Enzo, how could you?”
“This shouldn't be a big deal Giulia. Since you didn't want to f**k me, someone else got to do it while I wait for you, That's all.” He shrugged his shoulders.
“You make me sick right now” My voice cracked.
He let out a hysterical laugh. “Common babe, I'm sorry you have to find out like this.”
What a lame apology. For a split second, I contemplated if it was still important to give him the news about my acceptance into the model agency. He never supported me anyway.
“Got something else to say”? He asked, interrupting my thought.
“No.”
I decided to keep the news to myself.
“Great. I was going to head out before you came. Feel free, stay as long as you want.”
“We are done, Enzo.” I said as calmly and audible as my voice could muster.
His expression became grim. Something I've never seen before.
“We are done only when I say so.”
“I mean it.” I said almost shouting this time.
“Don't be silly now, I know you're hurting. Take some time. You'll be fine.”
I walked towards him to drive down the message and I poked him while at it.
“You can't tell me what to do anymore. You've lost that right.”
He grabbed my hands and pulled me close to him. My breast brushed against his chest and I felt a tingling sensation. My body almost betrayed me.
He noticed and responded with a smile.
“Fiesty. I love you like this.” He chuckled.
I pulled myself away from him and without another word turned on my heels. I can't stand him anymore.
“See you soon amore mio.” He called out from behind.
I can still sense his gaze on me as I walk away. No going back. My mind is made up.
The evening was cold. Another sign of a rain storm was evident in the sky. I have to hurry, else I'll be caught up in it. I ran my hand through my hair, tucking away strands of hairs across my face.
I wanted to board a taxi but on second thought, I decided to walk home. At least to clear my head off the ugly experience I just had with Enzo.
Two ugly experiences in one day. First, my uncle tried to take my savings to recover his money my sister stole. Secondly, my boyfriend is cheating on me with another man.
Damn it! How did I not see that part of him all this while?
Just a few blocks to get home. I noticed a dark SUV trailing behind me. I thought it would move past but it kept inching closer to me. I turned slowly, to get a better look at it.
I've seen it before. Same car that left our house this morning. Did my uncle send them? Panic quickly sets in, recalling that the men I saw this morning were not Friendly. In fact, they look dangerous.
What do they want from me? I quickened my steps. My stomach tightened and my breathing hitched in my throat. Running felt like a better option.
But just before I could muster up the courage to run, they cut me off and the two men I saw earlier jumped out from the vehicle. This time they were with another man who gave them orders.
“Get her now! But be gentle.”
I kicked and threw punches. But my strength and tiny frame was no match for them.
“Who the hell are you?”
“Let me go! I looked for what to grab, anything to serve as a weapon.
But I couldn't find anything.
“I said be gentle with her, you morons. She is just a girl.” The third man gently reminded the two men.
I'm I being kidn*pped?
I saw people looking, but no one dared come close.
“Somebody help me”! I screamed.
This can't be happening, why me. So many questions flying through my head.
Keep fighting, keep struggling, I told myself. Maybe they will let you go. A false hope I gave myself.
The rain came pouring in torrents. Maybe they will surely leave me now.
“You morons can't get one simple job done”. The third man barked.
He is obviously their leader.
“You grab her legs.” He ordered one of the men that held me earlier.
With a swift move, he went behind me. I felt a sharp sting pin pierce the corner of my neck.
“Sweet dreams doll.” He whispered into my ear.
Just in a matter of seconds, I passed out.
The moment I woke, I found myself in a strange room. I quickly yanked off the sheets to find a possible exit route and escape.
Just then, I noticed I was wearing just my brazier and panties. My phone and purse were gone too.
“What the f**k?”
I scanned around the room in search of my clothes. That moment, I realised how luxurious the room is. Whoever got me here must have an exquisite taste for good things.
I sighted my clothes neatly folded with my purse beside it. Relieved, I quickly picked them up. My phone was not among the items. I opened the purse but it was empty.
No way, this is happening to me. I almost broke down in tears.
“Going somewhere?”
I turned abruptly towards the sound of the voice. A silhouette figure stood before me.
“Who.. Who are you?” I stammered in panic.
The figure slowly emerged from the shadows. His steps were rigid and graceful.
“I'm Erico. You've been placed under my watch.”
I gasped at the full sight of him. He looked like a Greek God. He had brown, honey-coloured eyes, a well-structured jawline, and a well-built body. Everything about him screams perfetto.
My heart sank in my stomach with fear. I raised my clothes to cover my unclad body– A little bit shy.
“I expect answers when I ask questions. That's rule number one. Let's start all over again.”
“Are you going somewhere?”
I stood there frozen like a statue. Not knowing how to respond. His towering frame stood over me. I felt timid for the first time in my life.
“Errm.. I… I want to go home, please.”
“Oh, doll, this is your home now. Get comfortable already.”
“No, it's not. I live with my uncle and my sister,” I retorted.
“Don’t talk back at me. There will be consequences when you do.”
“Just to fill you in Giulia, your uncle is the reason you're here. Digest that. Get ready in thirty minutes, I'll be back. Your new life is about to start. The bathroom is right there.” He motioned towards it.
“Wait a minute, what am I doing here? And what has my uncle got to do with all this?”
“You are in no position to ask questions unless you're permitted to do so.”
“And what rule number is that, I guess number two”? I sneered.
He didn't take it. I saw flashes of disgust and anger flush across his face.
“Don't push it, Giulia.” Get ready in thirty minutes.”
“And don't even think of escaping. You are under heavy security watch, and they will not be gentle with you.”
“I hope your tiny brain can process that.”
I watched him walk out the room. Feeling defeated. I slumped into the bed. I let the tears fall freely. The thought of Uncle Franco being the reason why I'm here tugged at the back of my mind.
There is only one way to find out. I needed to escape. He had warned me about escaping, but staying here is not an option.
I have my dreams to chase– To be a supermodel. I can't let it die like that. Never!
I'll have to escape. Even if I die trying.
