Chapter 9

1715 Words
Gatamu arrived at the palace only to meet his father on fire and no Silviah. He was so worked up about what she had told him about Gatamu having another woman. He could not imagine Gatamu messing things up just that blindly. “Gatamu, where have you been and what has become of you?” “Father, I am from the other side of town to see my friend doctor Kirimi.” “Who gave you the impression that doctor Kirimi treats people with heartbreaks?” “I do not understand why the tone my king. I thought you knew that I do visit him when I need to see him.” “Of course I do but I fail to understand why you had to talk to Silviah the way you did.” “Father, I am sorry to have talked to her like that. It will not happen again. I just had a bad morning.” “Does this mean that when we have a bad day or morning we talk rudely to those close to us? Where did you learn this? Not in my palace I presume.” “No father, that’s not how it should be. Please forgive me.” “Tell that to your woman. She is really mad at you.” “I will my king. If only I could know where she was right now.” “She just left, maybe to her home. Are you sure of what you are telling me son? She sounded as one sure of what she was saying. What is this I hear about a town girl?” “Father, I cannot lie to the throne and to you. I am speaking the pure truth. About the girl, that is not true too. I know nothing about town girls let alone having one as my mate.” “Very well son, I know you are a responsible young man just like I raised you to be, always making me proud. You had better sort these issues out quickly. I can’t have the media propagate such nonsense.” “Right away dad, I will make you proud.” As Gatamu walked out of the palace, the King had some help to offer to his son. “…son, do you need any help? Don’t be shy. Just ask. Dad knows best. I am the king, remember?” “Ha…Ha…Ha… so funny. Of course, I can handle this dad. What sort of future King would I be if I cannot handle my own woman?” “That’s the spirit my boy, all the best.” “Thank you father.” As he faced the door again to walk out, he had something to say to his father as well. “…and by the way, doctor Kirimi... (He paused for a while) he may be treating heartbreaks too. He helped me through this.” “Ha! Ha! Ha! That’s a good friend to be around son.” The Prince left the palace at that instance. He surely needed to get to Silviah before the end of the day. He headed straight to Silviah’s home. She too was on her way home from Kirimi’s place. Not long, Gatamu was already at Mr. Mamiti’s compound. Hastily, he walked into the house in search of Silviah. Upon entrance, he was shocked to meet the least expected. Mr. Mamiti was at home that afternoon. He too did not expect a visit from the Prince, especially not with his daughter absent. “Good afternoon sir.” “Good afternoon. How may I be of help Prince? “Actually sir, it’s nothing much. I am just looking for Silviah.” “What is the meaning of this Gatamu? Actually, it’s good that you have said it before my asking. She left for your house this morning. How is she not with you?” “Actually sir, she did come to the palace in the morning.” “Then, if she did, why are you looking for her here again? I think I should be the one asking where she is and not the other way round. What are you not telling me Prince?” “It’s nothing sir, it’s just that…” “Just what, or have you been fighting again? Gatamu, why can’t you people get it together? Must you keep fighting to know you are in love? That’s not how we did it during our time.” “Sir, I assure you that it is nothing much. It’s just a little misunderstanding. That’s all.” “It better be. Make sure to handle this hastily. Go find her, she is not yet home.” “We will sir. Good day.” Gatamu walked out of the house to go look for Silviah. From this point, he was becoming more confused. After he found her not at her home, he could not think of anywhere else to look for her. Since he loved her not, he hardly cared to know what she liked and where she went during her free time besides being on his tail. Lucky enough for him, after he exited the front door, he saw her arriving. Without waste of any second, he walked right to her to receive her. Soon, she stepped out of her car and stood right in front of him but without a word. She eyed him as if he was the remains of a dead body. From head to toe, her eyes ran on Gatamu as if she was sizing him for a suit. After a while of this fierce gazing and dead silence, Gatamu was ready to say what had brought him to her home. “Silviah, I do not know where to start but…” Immediately she heard this word ‘not know where to start’, she could not give him a break. She had to play hard to get. It was in her blood just like any other woman. She interrupted him in a harsh tone. “If you don’t know where to start then, why are you here in the first place?” “I mean, I am sorry for what happened earlier today.” “Let me get this straight. Is it what happened or what you did? I am confused, I don’t get you through.” “Okay, it’s what I did to you.” “Hurry up man, I don’t have all day. I got better things to do.” “We spoke rude to each other which led to fighting and me assuming you.” “I recall no such moment. All I recall was you ignoring me and accusing me of ruining your day. Just like you are doing to mine right now, Mr. Prince.” “Well then, you got it. About all that, let me say that I am sincerely sorry. I was just not myself. I got a lot of things in my mind.” “Oh, who were you if not yourself, hah? Finally, the mighty has fallen, or, has this woman divorced you already, Aah? Tell me Prince, has the crown lost its power?” “Silviah, can you stop this already? I told you that I do not have any other woman. I am serious about this. Do not joke with matters of the heart my dear.” “Ha! Ha! Ha! Talk about joking and matters of the heart! What name do you give to what you did earlier, hah, seriousness or what?” “We all have our weaknesses ma love.” “You took me for a ball to hit in every direction you please, right Mr. Man? Well, you are so damn wrong on this one, Mr. know all. Why should I forgive you anyway? You left me just like that.” “You are no ball but a lover to me. You are the queen of my heart. I just wish you could forgive me for the love’s sake. Please my dear, do forgive me.” “Now you talk of love’s sake. For what sake do you think I was asking when you pretended not to know anything?” “Baby, I just wish I could open up my heart for you to see. I am really sorry.” “Do not baby me, not now please!” “Okay then, sorry. My love, please forgive me for what I did to you.” “Okay, I will forgive you but on one condition Mr. funny man.” “I will do anything my love, anything for my queen.” “Well, I know you will do anything for me Prince, which is why I want you to say it on your knees, Mr. Man. I wish to know what it feels like to have a Prince kneel before me.” “Okay, I will keep my promise and kneel for you my love.” The Prince had no other choice but to go on his knees and apologize to her. After he was on his knees, he proceeded to apologize as he had promised. “Please forgive me my dear.” “Well, well, that’s obedient of you. You may rise on your feet Prince. I have forgiven you and do not repeat this again ever.” “I did not mean to do all this to you my love. It’s only that we people are faulty and make mistakes from time to time. I promise never to do it again my love. Thank you and I love you so much.” “You can thank me in the house my Prince, right now, I miss you like hell.” Silviah said as she hugged and kissed him. All was well between them now. They got back together again. As usual, not for the sake of the love Gatamu never had for her but to keep her off limits. He had to make such an act to ensure that she does not find out about Peninah. His heart was always with her ever since he first saw her. They joined hands and into Silviah’s house, they went. This is where they spent the rest of the day having all the fun they could stomach and Gatamu making up for his mistakes.
