Ch 11: A Real Show?

977 Words
Elisa's POV: All the girls who were around me that day were unfamiliar, belonging to other packs. But if this video got out, my own pack girls would make my life a living hell for being the traitor and choosing the lycan team over the wolves. My plans to destroy Maria and Ethan would suffer a crushing defeat. And everything I was aiming to achieve in this miraculous rebirth would shatter before I could execute my first real move. Worse, I might get suspended from the academy for being the pack’s traitor. The innocence I tried to feign before him evaporated from my face instantly, replaced by a cold, sharp glare. I dropped the act, clenching my fists at my sides. "Why are you doing this?" I hissed, my tone sounding furious. "What do you want, Kael? Why are you doing this? A-Are you trying to blackmail me?" "Blackmail is an ugly word. I prefer negotiation," Kael said in a calm demeanor. The playful smirk vanished from his lips as he leaned in closer, his emerald eyes boring deeply into mine. "I hate liars, Elisa. And I just want to hear the truth. “Why are you suddenly going against Ethan when you’ve spent years acting like his obedient little shadow?" "That’s none of your business," I spat, pressing my spine harder against the cold wall, desperate to find any gap to escape from this sly fox. "You don't have the right to ask me that." "I’m making it my business," Kael growled. This time, his voice was laced with a dangerous, unspoken warning. "You chose my team. You were the one who walked up to me at the welcome party and initiated the kiss!" "B-But... I didn't think you would actually kiss me like that!" I blurted out with my heart hammering frantically against my ribs, while the heat rushed to my cheeks as the memory of his possessive lips devouring mine flared up in my mind. "Well, I did," Kael countered with a small nod, his jaw clenching hard. "And now you've dragged me straight into your little game as well. So, be honest. Were you planning to just use me as a convenient pawn to spite your Alpha boyfriend? Or was this all just some petty, jealous trick to grab his attention?" He stepped a few inches closer, as his chest was nearly brushing against mine. The raw, domineering power of his lycan aura pressed down on me like an iron weight, making it hard for me to even maintain his intense eye contact. "Let me give you a piece of advice, Elisa." Suddenly, leaning a little closer, Kael whispered, his eyes flashing amber in the shadows as his patience wore thin. "Using a lycan as your pawn would carry a heavy price. We don't play by any rules, and we sure as hell don't get used without taking what we're owed. "So... unless you want this video broadcast to the entire academy, will you be honest now? Or should I handle this my way?" The air between us grew so dense, making me gulp when I realized this fire was just a single spark away from blowing up my entire plan. I looked into his green eyes that seemed much darker now, and beneath his shell of seriousness, he had me cornered. There was no use lying my way out of this…not with the video, and certainly not escaping him. I let out a long, slow exhale as the rising panic drained from my posture. Lifting my gaze up, I muttered. "Fine," I said, my voice dropping to a low grumble. "You want the truth, then hear me out. Ethan cheated on me. With Maria, whom I had considered my soul sister.” “What?” “I trusted them with my life... and they betrayed me in the most disgusting way possible." Almost muttering the sentences in one breath, I met Kael's gaze dead-on, letting him see the unhinged rage of vengeance burning within the depth of my ocean eyes. "They thought they could take me as a fool, play with me, and then discard me when they were bored. So now? I plan to ruin both of them. “I'm going to take away everything they care about…giving them the taste of bitter humiliation, exactly what they deserve.” For a few seconds, a long silence stretched between us. But by then, after blurting out everything in one go, I had already braced myself for his mockery. I expected him to laugh at my cliché heartbreak, despite the fact that he remembered how I had solely devoted myself to Ethan for all my life. Now…he would probably laugh his head off after hearing a wolf-less girl wanting to take down a future Alpha. But instead of a loud chuckle, a sly smirk slowly curved Kael’s lips. I could notice a dangerous glint return to his emerald eyes, which made him appear far more predatory than before. He tilted his head, looking down at me not with pity, but with a twisted admiration that sent a shiver down my spine. "A vengeful little kitten," Kael murmured in a low, dangerous rumble that echoed off the dark hallway walls. "I like it. But if we’re burning their world down... why not give them a real show?" All of a sudden, hearing his words made my heart slam fervently against my ribs. The stoic expression I had been wearing before him was replaced by a sudden panic as I was unable to read the meaning behind his words. "What…What are you saying?" I stammered, heat rushing to my cheeks. I grabbed his jacket, trying to shove him back, but he didn't budge a step away from me when I grunted, “A-Are you asking me to g-go out with you or something?”
