Chapter 18Ben and I arrive at Lou’s Diner on Interstate 9. We are lucky when our hostess seats us in the only booth available, in the back of the open dining room by the restrooms. The place is packed like sardines and loud with enthusiastic conversations, everyone’s voice filling the L-shaped space.
