*Ember* I follow Kyan’s mother down the hallway, staying a few steps behind her. There’s a lot to take in. Everywhere I look, I see expensive works of art–paintings, statues, pottery. Our castle is the same, of course, but it’s not as big as this one, and I have a feeling our treasures are not worth as much. We make several turns, and I quickly get disoriented. If I’m supposed to find my way back to the foyer or anywhere else at some point today, I’m not going to be able to do it. Kyan’s behind me, though, and I suppose he knows where everything is. Luna Stone is kind and warm. She reminds me of my mother in some ways. When she hugged me hello, though, something… seemed off. She hesitated for a second after her arms went around me, and I’m not sure why. It kind of reminds me of the way
