Her Twisted Fate

Chapter 1

I'm in my uber heading to my estranged grandmother's house in a small town located in Oregon. I am still so shaky from being in a car. I miss my parents and brother tremendously. I have already graduated high-school but since my birthday is in September and I started school early, I am still 17 and cannot legally live on my own. On top of turning 18 in a couple of months, I will also he starting college a few towns over from my gramother's house. I was supposed to attend MIT for computer science but now going to a local university since bring in Massachusetts would only give me more heartache.

As the uber drives through town I get a lot of stares like I shouldn't be here. Not sure why. We barely ever spoke to my dad's mom. All my other family is deceased or we do not speak to them so it was either stay with my grandmother or go into the system until I'm 18.

From what I was told dad grew up in this town and had a fallen out with his parents and took off. He then met my mom and a few years after had my older brother and then me.

The car stops at a cute little house with a wrap around porch and as I get out I see my grandmother. I see where my dad got his bright blue eyes and chestnut hair from. I also have the same eyes and hair. I have never met or spoken to this woman and as not sure what to expect. Beverly came running over to me and gave me a huge hug. It was unexpected but felt good to be embraced.

"My girl is it so great to finally meet you although this tragedy has broken my heart tremendously" said Beverly my grandmother. I gave her a tight grin and did my best to hold my tears in. She helped bring my bags into the house since I am on crutches due to the broken leg and she showed me my room. It was actually my dad's old bedroom and everything looks untouched but clean.

To get my mind off of everything I was allowed to start college early and take some summer classes. The sooner I get my Bachelors, the sooner I can move away from here and start a new life and job. This should be interesting.
