Andrea walked quietly to her a stool at the bar, ignoring the battalion of male eyes that followed her straight to her seat. She was already used to that. What she wasn't used to however, was the overwhelming attraction she felt towards the guy outside. Correction, the wolf outside. She had smelt him just as soon as she had felt his aura enveloping her from a distance, and she could sense he was aware of her to. The look on his face when their eyes met told her everything she needed to know. All her alarms, werewolf and human, were going haywire.
"Really? Stefanovic?" She muttered to herself. "One look from an omega you barely know and you are butter inside? Pathetic. You can do better."
Resolving to lay back and let the situation play out itself, Andrea took a seat and ordered a shot of whiskey from the freckled red-headed teen girl behind the counter.
"Aren't you too young to be working at a bar?" Andrea asked, raising an eyebrow when the girl passed her the shot.
"We are not a bar ma'am, we are a steak house, that just happens to serve alcohol." the girl retorted, rolling her eyes. "And my Dad owns the place."
"Okay, okay." Andrea replied, raising a hand in surrender, she knew exactly what it felt like to be an angsty teenager, and she didn't want to get on the bad side of one. "Still doesn't explain why a minor serves beer to adults."
"First of all, it's none of your damn business, secondly, I am 19."
"Wow, you look er... young for your age." Andrea said, immediately regretting it. While adult women loved hearing that they looked young, teenagers loved the opposite. It made them feel mature and experienced, and they enjoyed that. Telling this one she looked young was an unnecessary escalation.
The girl's eyes narrowed in fury, before she turned around and walked to the other end of the bar in great anger, stomping her feet as loudly as she could.
Andrea sighed. She really didn't mean to upset the girl, the kid was probably already having a rough time dealing with the drunken men that frequented the bar and her asshole mates. This probably wasn't going to help.
Making a mental note to apologize to her later, she downed her drink in one shot, her eyes watering as the hot, fiery liquid burned down her throat, giving her an instant boost. "That's more like it" she thought, closing her eyes to savor the feeling and instantly getting interrupted by that strong aura.
Andrea's eyes snapped open in alarm. It was HIM.
"You always watch women enjoy themselves at bars cowboy?" She asked, without even turning around to face him. She heard him laugh, a deep throaty sound that made her head swim.
"Only when they look like you." Came the reply, his voice as deep as space itself, flowing over her ears like a golden river.
"Focus Andrea! Focus!" she admonished herself internally, fighting to regain her composure. "Well I don't appreciate it, now please f**k off and let me be."
"I will" he said, sliding up to the stool next to hers and leaning on the bar to face her. "But first I would love to play a game with you." His eyes glinted with mischief.
"Not interested bozo."
Ignoring her, he pushed on. "I bet I could tell more about you, than you could about me."
Andrea turned around to face him, puzzled at the audacity of this guy. It was a mistake, looking at that face. With the dark blue eyes and day old stubble on his face, he looked like the subject of all the wet dreams she had ever had from her teen years. Couple that with his scent, not the store bought cologne, but his Wolf scent, and the combo made her swoon in pure lust.
"Excuse me?" She stuttered. Her eyebrows scrunched up in confusion.
"C'mon." he drawled, "it would be fun".
"Is this how you spend your evenings? Prowling bars, looking for unsuspecting women to pester?"
"I wouldn't be here if you didn't want me here." He smirked.
Sighing in exasperation, she decided to put him in his place, show him who was boss.
"Okay". She said looking at him from head to toe. A look that would make even the most confident men quiver in their pants. Bloody bastard didn't even flinch. "You are a spoiled, 20 something year old dickhead looking to have some fun. You have never worked a day in your life, you have had everything handed to you, money, power, women. You are used to getting your own way and deep down, you are a dark empty asshole. Also, you are an Omega, probably packless since no one would have you." It was her turn to smirk, which she did satisfactorily. "Am I right?"
For once, he looked speechless. Just sat there staring at her with his eyes a but widened while she smiled back at him. "gotcha." she thought.
Then he surprised her, breaking out in laughter, and causing her to blush in anger.
"That was a good one." He said, finally quietening up. "That was very good, my turn."
He looked at her, maintaining eye contact, his pure aura keeping her locked in as his spoke.
"You are new to town, probably on some sort of gig, possibly a media thing. You grew up harassed by men, hence your protective shield. You are smart, fiercely independent and you know what you want. You are also a loner, just like me, a wolf without a pack. Probably because you think one holds you back." he paused, to scratch his chin. "How did I do?"
Andrea fell silent, frustration rising in her, a feeling she pushed down instinctively. "Yeah, you might not be far from the truth" she sighed, giving up.
He let her brood for a moment before extending an arm. "Hi, I am Jason, Jason Cole."
She considered the hand for a minute, before finally accepting the handshake, his massive, hard, calloused hands completely swallowing hers. "You could have led with that" she smiled, a genuine one for the first time that evening. "I am Andrea, Andrea Stefanovic."
"That would have been boring" he said, "And I don't like boring."
They spent the next 30 minutes talking about nothing in particular, getting to know each other. His interest peaked when he heard about her story.
"Ahh" he nodded sagely. "Dark days. 11 people, suddenly gone. I knew one, an Omega named Brad. Not really the best of people but whoever would do that to a wolf was packing serious fire power."
"You mind giving an interview on it?" she asked, a large part of her willing him to agree.
Smirking, he lifted an eyebrow at her "Miss Stefanovic, are you asking me out?."
"Oh shut up s**t-for-brains." She replied. "You won't be the only person."
"Okay, okay." He stood up, stretching out. "Tomorrow by 7 good for you? I'll pick you up."
"That's fine thank you."
"Okay, it's a date. Pleased to meet you, Andrea Stefanovic" he winked at her and went out the front door.
"It's not a date!" she called after him
"It's not a date." Yet she smiled inwardly, the day hadn't turned out that bad.
She stood up to leave herself, her watch said the time was 8:30 pm. Time for rest, tomorrow, the grind continues.
Maybe Midge was right, maybe this wasn't going to be too bad afterall.
