Rivalry

Having your girlfriend be Lily Haffamn was an...interesting choice. But I didn't let that show and instead smiled. "Wow...two years? That's a long time..." I said. Noah nodded, while wrapping an arm around Lily's waist. I tried not to look at her, but I accidentally did. And oh boy…it was like looking at the devil herself. She was staring me down as if I had stolen her family heirloom. "Bet you wouldn't have been able to be in a relationship that long with the way you look." Lily said snarkily. If I was 5 years old, I would have cried. But I've dealt with her enough to just smile it off. Lily was like...a childhood friend gone wrong. "Babe! That's rude. Don't say that!" Noah scolded. "Don't worry. It's been going on long enough that I'm immune to it," I said. Lily rolled her eyes and pinned me down with another hard look. She was what you think a spoiled rich girl would look like. She was Raquelle, just...not as iconic. Black, pin-straight hair that reached her waist, tight revealing clothes that should be against uniform protocol, but somehow isn't. She literally had her white undershirt tucked into her bra! "What are you looking at?" Lily asked harshly. "Nothing. Just processing why Noah would want someone like you, but hey, preferences, am I right?" I said with a bright smile on my lips. Lily growled, it sounded like she was going to lunge at me, but thankfully, Noah stopped her. "Babe, that's enough. You're acting like a child throwing a tantrum right now," Noah scolded softly. Lily just pushed him off and strutted away, forcing her hips to sway to each side. It was laughable, really. I heard Noah sigh in relief and turned to me with a sheepish smile. "Sorry about that…I don't know what got into her, she isn't usually this hostile..." Noah apologized, though it sounded like he genuinely felt bad and was upset with Lily's behavior. "It's alright. Don't apologize for her. I've known her since we were kids, it's nothing new," I responded. Noah nodded and we both continued talking. We went over various topics, like how he came from old money…like old old money. That's why his last name sounded familiar. He was filthy rich! His dad owns several liquor stores that had been passed down from previous generations and his mother is a world-famous fashion designer while also being a fvcking model! I learned that he had an older brother and a baby sister. I also told him how I came here on scholarship and how I was an only child. Just conversing about everyday things..like what our favorite colors were...(his was green, mine was red). The conversation flowed smoothly, it felt like we had known each other forever. It felt..warm. Like a warm cinnamon bun you eat that came right out the oven. He was easygoing, funny and charismatic in ways I never thought a guy could be. We were going to be such good friends. In the middle of our conversation, I felt a hand tug at my sleeve before turning around to see Myra. I smiled and pulled her forward. "Hey, girl! This is Noah. The new kid you told me about." I introduced Myra to Noah as well. Myra, when it came to meeting new people, was a bit of an introvert. So it took her a few moments to adjust to the new presence. But hopefully she'll get comfortable with Noah soon because he was going to be a good part of our duo now. We continued conversing before I looked at the time and audibly shrieked. Both Myra and Noah turned to look at me. "Oh fvck. I forgot. I need to go to the library because I have a tutoring session. It started like...half an hour ago! I'll see you guys tomorrow, I'm sorry!" Before they could even come up with a response, I dashed to the uppermost floor of the building. And guess what? This academy offered elevator privileges! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Two hours had passed, and I was finally done with tutoring. I was packing my things and putting them into my bag before starting to head out of the library. I was by the doors of the elevator when suddenly I was shoved to the ground. Third time today? God, I am not a good luck charm... I was about to apologize when I realized that it was Lily. And so... I knew she shoved me intentionally. She was laughing at me as I got up. "Seriously, Lily? How much more childish can you get? We're not in first grade anymore," I said, exasperated. Lily's laugh immediately stopped, and her expression darkened, her eyes narrowed, and her lips pursed together. It was like looking at a dog in human form. "I see how it is. You think you can finally level up to me, poor b***h? I'd like to see you try," she uttered. "Woah woah woah...pretty girl, now no need for hostility. It's not a good look for you. Though I doubt any look is good for you," I said with a smirk. I knew I had pushed her buttons. I knew what I said annoyed her. But it's fun to play around with bullies, okay? Much more fun when you've had them beside you your whole life. I held my hands up in mock surrender, the smirk never falling off my face. I watched as she got angrier, the more angry she got the redder she became. Like a little tomato. Cute. "Watch your tone. I could make Principal Adams expel you whenever I want. And stay away from Noah. He's mine," she said, her voice hinting at a possessive tone. I could only smile in response. "What makes you think I want Noah? Scared he'll like me more than you?" I snickered as her face turned beet red. "No, of course not!" She sputtered. "Just stay away from him." "Not happening. I respect your guys' relationship, and we made it clear we're only friends. I'm not here to steal him or anything, because, girl, trust me. I do not have the time for boys right now," I said, which was true. Finals were coming up, and I really needed to focus on studying. She could only look at me with disgust and hostility. The way she always ever looked at me. She walked up to me until her breath brushed against my face. "I don't fvcking care, poor b***h. He's mine. If you even try to take him from me, I'll make sure this whole school finds out about your little secret," she snarked. My face dropped instantly.
