An Awkward Mistake

Aaliyah's POV It had been a month since the stabbing and a week since Noah was released from the hospital. He was still under strict monitoring by hospital staff and...apparently by medical staff he had at his house? I didn't even ask because of how unusual it sounded. How rich did one family need to be to have medically trained individuals just be there? It was a bright Saturday morning. I had just finished breakfast and was about to head to the shower when the doorbell rang. "I'm getting it," I heard my mom say, and so I continued making my way to the bathroom when I heard my mom call for me again. "Aaliyah! You have a guest," said my mom's voice. I didn't invite anyone over. And Myra was out with her family on some vacation to Germany or something. Who could it be? With that question in mind, I walked to the front door where my mom was waiting. I peeked over her shoulder to see Noah. "Noah? What are you doing here?" I asked with a surprised tone. He smiled and rubbed the back of his neck. "I was wondering if we could hang out. Most of my friends are out doing some boring s**t, so I thought you would be free. Are you up for it?" he asked. "I'm fine with that. I was just about to take a shower though… could you wait in my room, though?" He nodded and stepped in. My mom gave me a suspicious look, but didn't say anything right away. "My room's right down the hall, it's the door on the right," I told Noah, to which he nodded and headed to my room. "So now you're having a secret boyfriend, huh? I should've known. This rich school is putting a bad influence on you," my mom started, but I just shrugged and walked down to the bathroom for my shower. As I walked past my room, I took an accidental glance in. What I saw made me speechless. Noah was in my room, but shirtless. He took his shirt off. He was turned away so I could only see his back and God help me... His back muscles were prominent as he stretched his arms over his head, his lean body stretching as my gaze slid down his back. His back looked like it was sculpted by the Greek Gods themselves, my gaze dragged over his back, savoring the new sight before he unexpectedly turned around. His eyes caught mine. We stared at each other before I felt a flush creep up my neck. The last thing I saw as I rushed from the door was a smirk on his face. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Freezing cold water poured down my body as I tried to shake the sight of Noah out of my mind, but it was hopeless. His smirk, his muscles…his eyes… God those glasses framed his eyes so well. What was I thinking? He's just a friend. I was being ridiculous. I needed a break… I finished my shower and stepped out, wrapping a towel around my body and hair. I looked into the mirror at my reflection. Soft brown tan skin, black hair that reached the middle of my back, dark brown eyes with plump lips. I was pretty if I'd say so myself. I left the bathroom and headed to my bedroom, opening the door and stepping in. I completely forgot about Noah's presence before I heard him clear his throat. I turned to face him. Thank God he was wearing his shirt now...but...I was in a towel! Oh for fvcks sake! Why does this happen to me? "Didn't know we were this close already, darling," I heard him say. Darling? Where did that come from? I looked at him, my face flushed a soft pink. I wrapped the towel tighter around my body as I saw his gaze go up and down my body, as if he was studying my figure. It made me feel naked. "We aren't. And don't call me that. And..y-you turn around!" I stuttered, trying to sound calm but failing miserably. "What if I don't?" I heard him say. He got up and walked towards me, as if a predator stalking its prey. I backed up until my back hit my door. He approached me slowly. "What are you doing?" I sputtered out. He only smirked as he continued stepping closer to me until his chest barely touched mine. I felt his finger trail up my arm, sending shivers through me. He felt it and his smirk widened. "You tell me," he said in a low but slightly flirtatious tone. I forced myself to look up at him. He was a good 10 cm taller than me, with his eyes looking straight down at mine. He had taken his glasses off and fvck..no one told me eyes could be this attractive! "You're staring," he stated, making the blush on my cheeks deepen. Before anything could happen, I heard my mom's voice. "Aaliyah! You better not be wasting all the water again! We are not rich!" It snapped both Noah and me out of whatever was going on. He stepped back, muttering multiple apologies. I could only muster up an 'it's okay' that sounded more like a squeak before I quickly grabbed a grey hoodie and sweatpants I had laid out before my shower and before Noah had come over. I went back to the bathroom and put them on. What the fvck just happened? I washed my face. It didn't matter that I had taken a shower, I kept on splashing cold water on my face until it burned. I kept replaying the whole scene over and over again. I then wiped my face with my towel when I heard a knock on the bathroom door. I opened it to see a sheepish-looking Noah. Dare I say he looked cute? "Uh... I just wanted to apologize about earlier... I don't know what got into me," he said, his voice quiet but gentle. "Yeah, no worries...it happens," It happens? Aaliyah, what are you on? He smiled. "So... we're good then? Hopefully this doesn't make you go shut me out or something..." he said, genuinely sounding hopeful that I wouldn't shut him out. I shook my head. "I'm not shutting you out. I would have had you not come to apologize." I saw him nod and I smiled. "So... where do you wanna hang out? I'm fine with anything," I asked. "I was thinking of going to that new café that had just opened. I remember you telling me you wanted to go," he responded. I looked at him, surprised he remembered what I told him a week ago. "You remembered?" He responded with a nod. I exited the bathroom, and we headed to the front door. As we walked I could feel my mom's gaze on us. She was definitely making up scenarios in her head. I just ignored her and we both put on our shoes and exited my apartment. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- We arrived at the café and placed our orders. He got a black coffee with a pain au chocolat while I got a vanilla latte with a simple glazed donut. We sat down with our orders. I took a sip of the latte and let out a satisfied moan. "This latte is so good..." I commented. Noah looked at me and smiled. "Yeah? Good, because I plan on bringing us here from now on," he said. His tone sounded weird. It felt like he was flirting? Nah, I was probably imagining it. I smiled at his words. "This could be our hangout spot," He nodded. "Just ours,"
