ReturnTo The Wild

Exploring this new place, I’ve met many new people who are just like me. Male and female, young and old, they all have been unbound without their mate and are living happily rather than in solitude, as I have been. It's only been a few hours, and already I have had so many stories told to me about their journey here, making me feel as if I belong here, as if this is where I was meant to be. One of the elder wolves here that goes by the name of Ember told me about the history of the Lunar Vow and how she was a part of the very first one, which is amazing because I didn't even think a wolf could live that long, but I guess when you live in a place full of magic, anything is possible. As the day progressed, we laughed ,told stories around the fire about the past and what lead us to where we are today. the air was ca;m and I felt my mind start to ease. I realized my story was no different from others around me.We all have a darkness in us that needs to be tamed. Another wolf by the name of Henrick told the story of how shifters had been around for hundreds of years. One day, a pup named Yasiel was born. His mom died during child birth. His dad died soon after from heartbreak. His pack took turns raising him until he was 16. He grew up with his pack thinking he was cursed. Yasiel was unlike any shifter they had ever seen. He had abilities that none had experienced before; he had elemental powers, which means he could control fire, water, earth, and air, but most importantly, he could shift on command without the full moon. None of the other wolves in his pack had this ability, so the fact that Yasiel did frighten them greatly. This resulted in his pack banishing him from the land, making him a rogue wolf. Yasiel wandered the land in solitude for many months before coming across another pack. This pack, unlike the pack he was born into, was like him. They all had elemental powers, except that, unlike him, they could only control one of the four elements. Wandering further into their land, he was met by one of the pack members with a very unwelcoming greeting. Yasiel’s POV “Who dares enter our territory uninvited? Outsiders are not treated with kindness here, pup. State your business now or die.” This terrified Yasiel as he was just a young wolf. “M-M-My name is Yasiel Thornbush. My pack banished me. I mean no harm to any of you. Please, I am very tired, and I have not had anything to eat or drink in days. I’m just looking for a Safe place to rest my head and replenish my energy for the night, and then I will be on my way.” The unknown wolf asked, “Banished you for what exactly? A pack does not banish one of its own without good reason. What did you do?” “I was born with the power of the four elements. They banished me because they have a fear of the unknown, and they did not trust that I would not bring harm to the pack.” I replied, shaking, afraid that they would kill me anyway. “The power of the four elements, you say? That is impossible, No one wolf could contain that much power. I do not believe you. Tell the truth now, or I’ll kill you where you stand.” “I am not lying, sir, I swear I only speak the truth. I can prove it.” “Prove it then, if the words you speak are true, then we will welcome you into our pack with open arms, but if they come to be untrue, we will tear you apart.” Standing there, eyes closed, breathing shallow, barely having the energy to stand, I attempt to access my powers when suddenly another voice appears from the distance. “Now, now Jacob, this is but a young wolf, powers or not, he can not pose any threat to us in the condition he is in, let him rest, and when morning comes, we will then assess if his words are true or not.” “Fine, but I want him under observation the entire time; he is never to be left alone, understand?” he says to three wolves standing behind him. “Yes, sir,” the three of them say in unison before having me follow them. As we entered the gates and walked through the town, it was like nothing I had ever seen before. There were many buildings lined with rows and rows of gorgeous blinking lights, dozens of people walking along the streets, all of them smiling and laughing as if they had no worries in the world. We arrived in front of a small white building lined with orange and purple lights, huge windows on every side of every wall, and a chimney poking from the roof to the left of it. “Here, this is where you will be staying. Curfew is at moonrise. Do not break it, we will be standing out here keeping watch, so don’t try anything stupid, boy.” The soldier to my left said strictly. Entering the home felt weird, it was warm but cold, big but small, it didn't feel like a home, probably because it wasn’t home, but maybe, just maybe, one day it could be. I walked down a long, narrow hallway to a blue door, which I could only assume was the bedroom. Entering it, I find a giant bed with fluffy white blankets, pictures of the moon phases and wolf packs lining the walls, a mirror bigger than I was, a large closet , a bathroom with a giant tub. Marble cabinetry lining the sinks. Exhaustion weighing over my body, I turn on the water to the shower, and after a few minutes, the entire room is filled with steam. Stripping off my dirty clothes, I get in, jumping as the scorching hot water touches my cold, bare skin. Letting the water run over me, I feel my entire body start to relax and the stress of the weeks alone wash away. I washed my hair and body about a dozen times .I finally felt clean . So I exit the shower and grabbed a clean set of clothes out of the small bag I was able to pack before being exiled. On the side table was a plate of food and drinks waiting for me. Someone must have delivered it to the room while I was showering. With a full belly I climb into the bed and cover myself with the blankets. After just a few seconds I feel my eyes start to get heavy and I drift off to sleep. The next morning, I am awoken by a bang on the door, *BANG BANG BANG* “OPEN UP, BOY! IT'S TIME FOR YOUR TRIAL,” I hear a man yelling through the door. Climbing out of bed, I slowly approach the door and opened it. “Okay, let's get this over with,” I reply, following with a disgruntled sigh. Following the soldiers outside and back to the meeting point where this had all begun.
