The books she had been holding scattered onto the floor at the sound of Wade’s voice, the photograph going down with them. She scrambled to pick everything up but couldn’t reach the photograph under the bed. “I asked you a question! What the f**k are you doing here!?” Her whole body trembled as she stood up, books in hand, the photograph long forgotten. “I… I’m sorry.” She could hear his footsteps getting closer, from where she stood, the sound of his feet against the stone floors resounded louder than thunder claps.
