Wade was blowing up her phone all night, same as her parents. And she sat in her car and cried silently, watching the phone ring over and over again. She sat in her car and watched all the other cars whizz by, the occasional passerby’s sent her looks of curiosity or disgust, you never knew with New Yorkers. She watched the ongoing traffic pass by, the night runners ran by and people on late night dates strolled by. It all gradually thinned out and she was the only one on the road, save for the random straddler and drunk driver.
When it was 4am, and she was starting to get freaked out being all alone in the middle of the road and all alone. She took a deep breath and willed herself to be strong, then she started the car and headed in the direction of home making sure to drive extra slow
