Chapter Three: Adonis

(I'm not really sure what's going on with the italic coding. It shows up properly on my laptop, but it's wonky on my cell phone. I don't know if that's the case for you guys, but I'm not sure what else I can do to get it to work properly.) I sighed hard, rubbing my face as I stared at my office computer. I knew that this was going to happen eventually, but I hadn't expected it to happen so soon. Man, I shouldn't have stopped smoking all those years ago. But, Venus had asked me, and I just can't say no to her when it comes to my health. Even though that kind of thing doesn't affect me, since I'm a werewolf. She doesn't know that, though. I've done my best to keep her from the supernatural part of things. She doesn't even know that the reason I run an apartment complex is so that my pack has a place to stay in the middle of society. Yeah, I'm the Alpha. My pack knows she's my sister, and knows that she's human. Let me explain that. We're not related by blood. My dad married her mom after finding out that they were mates. My dad was the Alpha of this pack when he was still alive, and her mom was human. Venus is the product of a previous relationship, just as I am with my dad. Once our parents married, we became step-siblings, and I treat her like she's my real sister, because she doesn't know any different. She thinks we're blood related, or so I hope. We look completely different, but hopefully she just thinks that I take after my father, while she took after her mom. I sighed again, leaning back in my chair. I certainly hadn't expected for that b***h Alexa to show her face here in my territory. I knew she was around, but she wasn't a threat, so I let my pack ignore her. And now she's my sister's mate! That's unacceptable. I stood, slamming my hands on my desk. I need to take a walk. My temper was getting the better of me, and my wolf was going to take control if I let him. I was about to leave my office when just who I didn't want to see flung my door open and shut it behind her. "What the f**k do you want, Alexa?" I scowled. I certainly didn't want her to be here. She grinned at me, standing at the door with her hands behind her. She was certainly attractive, but she wasn't my type. I preferred smaller women with dark hair. "I want to talk about this whole thing." She sighed, moving to take a seat on the other side of my desk without my permission. She never did like listening to me. Friggen w***e. I sighed, and sat down. "So f*****g talk." I snarled. She always tried my patience. She looked nervous, but happy. That's a lovesick wolf, for you. "I... You have to know I didn't mean for this to happen. But I'm glad it did." She started. I knew automatically she was talking about my sister. I leaned forward and growled. "I do not agree to you being with my sister, you should know that better than anyone. Not only are you almost ten years older than her, but you're a f*****g werewolf. She's human!" I raised my voice a bit. Thankfully, all the offices were soundproof so my assistants wouldn't come running if I started yelling at this b***h in front of me. She squirmed under my gaze, something that she hadn't ever done before. So this was the mate bond when talking about how you don't approve. I sighed hard and motioned for her to continue. "I know things were supposed to be different between us, Adonis. But you know better than anyone that we can't be with someone that isn't our mate." I stiffened, and forced my wolf back down. He wasn't happy that she would mention my mate like that. I still blamed myself for her death. I growled softly at her, my eyes changing from their blue-white to a dark stormy grey. "We do not talk about her. Especially not you, you f*****g cunt." I watched as she winced. She didn't like when I used my Alpha voice, because her wolf was forced to listen. She may have been the Alpha of her pack when she was still there, but right now, she was a f*****g rogue. I clenched my fists. We didn't talk about my mate. She had been the most beautiful woman I had ever seen, and I've been around the block a few times. She worked at a bar I frequented, and I had never really paid attention to her. She was a new employee, and when I looked at her to order another round of drinks for our victory against some rival pack, it was love at first sight. At least on my end. It took me months to win her over, and let me tell you. It was totally worth it. When I found out that she had been murdered by someone who was a spy in my own pack, I lost control. I murdered the whole pack they had just started, and I murdered that goddamn wolf that claimed to be doing that not only under orders from someone higher than them, but for my own best interest. I ripped them to pieces and left them to be eaten like the f*****g animal they are. I didn't give any of them a proper burial. f**k them. After I had calmed down, I had a heart to heart with my wolf. He suggested I rename him to carry her name with me, wherever I go. I broke down and held him close, crying until I didn't hold any more tears. I'm one of the only males with a wolf that holds a female name. But I'm one of the most fierce wolves out there, simply because of my temper. I don't bother trying to control it, since she was murdered. It doesn't matter anyway. I sighed hard, my eyes forced back to their blue-white. Vitoria was not happy about being forced back into the shadows, but he didn't need to be out right now. I growled at her, not impressed that she would bring our past up. "I'm not the only one who didn't want to get married. You know that. But I was willing to, until you called off the wedding." I scowled as she blushed and looked away, squirming under my gaze. "You know I can't marry anyone that isn't my mate. And besides, you had --" I slammed my fist on my desk, the wood showing a deep crack down the center as I snarled at her. "YOU ARE NOT TO UTTER HER NAME. YOU ARE NOT WORTHY." I'm not sure what happened after that, but I held her throat against the wall of my office. She wasn't even trying to fight as I tightened my grip on her, staring at her to fight her for dominance. "You will not utter her name, and I will do everything to keep you from my sister." I snarled at her, my eyes going black and my fangs showing as I moved closer to her. She didn't submit. Must be the Alpha blood running through her veins. Fuck her. This is my goddamn land. "You will reject Venus. And you will leave my land." That caused her to stiffen up and snarl at me, even though I was cutting off her breath. She grabbed my forearm and started to squeeze, very hard. I'll admit, the s**t hurt. "That's not your choice!" She snarled back at me, digging her elongated nails into my arm, causing blood to drip down onto the floor, which thankfully had black carpet, so it wouldn't show. I leaned closer to her, snarling and baring my fangs. "You will reject Venus." I used my Alpha voice on her, and she bared her fangs, challenging me. I tightened my grip on her throat. "f**k. You." She snarled at me, her eyes widening as she was starting to let her wolf take over. I hadn't expected her to release my arm and punch me in the chest. I released her and held my chest, the ribs broken. I growled as she stood over me, her eyes starting to blacken, a sign that our wolves were fighting to be released. "Venus is mine. I will have her, with or without your permission." She bared her fangs to me and the air was full of tension. "Adonis?" Shit. Speak of the devil and all that fun stuff. I had just managed to stand when Venus opened the door, still dressed in her very sexy work outfit. Hey, just because she's my sister doesn't mean I can't compliment her.
