The betrayal unveiled

Few days later,Mike still hadn't returned. Rita was very worried for her husband. Zara tried comforting her. It was weekend.. TeeTee had just returned, Zara and their mum's driver went to pick her up from the airport. When Rita saw her daughter.. she was overjoyed,she hugged her and her mood lightened.. she went to prepare her favorite meal. They ate and had fun. Rita didn't go to her boutique, she hanged out with her friends. TeeTee and Zara were home.. they had time to bond.

TeeTee: soooo how's life treating you?

Zara: oh well....my so called best friend has been a total b***h,telling everyone at school that I have daddy issues.... oh and my awesome boyfriend.... I caught him cheating on me with a junior... A minor.. it's been an eventful month Tee.

TeeTee: you know i never really liked the two of them..why did you even accept to date Brian?

Zara: I liked him...enough about me Tee...what should we do about dad and mum?

TeeTee: to be honest... I don't know... I tried telling mum to file for a divorce but she said no.. that she still loves her husband... She feels he will change..

Zara: wow.. I wish her the best..'cus that man is never changing..

The following morning, Zara was clearing the living room alongside the house help(Mary).. then there was a knock on the door,Mary went to open the door.. lo and behold it was their father and his family members and Jennifer ( his mum and 2 sisters). Zara was furious.

Zara: Mary go get mum and Tee.

Mary : okay aunty.

Grandma: so you can't greet? Ehn? See the reason I told you not to marry an oyibo.

Zara: (rolls her eyes) good morning ma, good morning aunty Mira and aunty Victoria.

Grandma: (sits down and stares at Zara and the house in disgust) keep your greetings to your self.

Zara: (faces her father) what is she doing here?( Points at Jennifer who was clinging on Mike's arm)

Rita enters the living room...when she sees Mike's mother,she knelt down to greet her and his siblings...went to hug her husband who slightly pushed her away. TeeTee bowed to greet them.

Mike: and when did you return?

TeeTee: few days ago... I tired calling you... You didn't pick.

Aunty Mira: Rita.. you didn't teach your children well at all... They don't have good up bringing... This one.. Zara can't even kneel down to greet us again... Because we're the same height right?

Aunty Vicky: when we told our brother to marry a woman from our village...he didn't listen..he said he was in love.. nonsense... Madam! The jazz you used on my brother has expired!!!

Rita: I... I don't understand what you're saying aunty Victoria..jazz? What jazz?

Grandma: we are here to tell you that.. my son, Mike has married a second wife..and she's carrying his son. The one you couldn't give him.

Zara: (chuckles) this must be a joke.. omg..I nearly believed you...it's a joke right?

TeeTee: Dad... She's joking right?

Grandma: (claps) mike...your children have taken me for a clown!!

Aunty Mira: imagine.. this is Jennifer.. your stepmother

Jennifer:(in an annoyingly sweet voice) good morning my senior wife.. my husband..oh I mean our husband have told me so much about you...

Rita:(in tears) mike..tell me they're joking...it's a prank right? You're pranking me...

Mike: it just happened Rita... You couldn't give me a male child...I'm the only son of my mother for crying out loud...you didn't expect me to just sit here, fold my hands and do nothing...I need a heir! Your girls will marry one day and take their husband's name.

Aunty Vicky: that is if they haven't gotten pregnant before they meet their "supposed husbands"

Rita: Victoria!! I will not allow you talk to my daughters like that! Don't you ever! So Mike(faces mike).. this is where it all ends? My parents were against our marriage..but I convinced them because I love you mike! You took me away from them and brought me here to suffer.... Mike.. you broke my heart..we've been married for how long mike? Over 20 years... And now you suddenly remember that you need a male child... Am I God? No answer me Mike...

Grandma: woman... It's okay...he already wifed her.. there's nothing you can do! Jennifer dear... Pack your loads inside...

Aunty Mira: infact let me help you... We are packing everything to the master bedroom.

Jennifer: Thank you aunty..(smiles)

Aunty Mira and aunty Vicky helped Jennifer to carry her bags inside... Zara and TeeTee were dumbfounded,they couldn't believe it. Rita was hurt. TeeTee took her to her room.

Zara: wow.. you've really outdone yourself father. But what does she have that mummy doest have? (Smiles) you broke her... I promise you... you will pay for hurting her..

She left...grandma hisses and showers praises on her son. A very small part of him felt sad for betraying his wife and children..he knew he had lost all the respect Zara had for him. He knew he messed up but his mother reassured him that he was doing the right thing.
